I've just sold some Girls Aloud tickets on Ebay.

A guy has bid £600 and won the tickets.

How do I protect myself against being scammed as I won't be receiving the tickets until next year and a lot can happen until then?

check his feedback, ask for payment, not a lot you can do really, sorry!
#2
I would ask for a deposit, say 25 per cent, then get the rest when you get the tickets.

whats your ebay id? - at the end of the day, you haven't lost anything as you havent sent the tickets?
#3
Make sure you transfer all of the money he sends to you through paypay to your bank account straight away and before you send the tickets.
#4
I thought you could only sell tickets if you had them in hand?
#5
Shall I not ask for all the money up front now?
#6
God, they must be some good seats!!

Do they have good feedback on there??
I dont understand why they would pay £600 as i cant see any of them on there going for anywhere near that much. Also i looked in completed listing but didnt see anywhere near that much.
Well i understand this from both points because if he pays all the money, whats stopping you never sending the tickets as it will be too late to open a paypal claim then. But then he may never pay and then it might be too late for you to sell them.
Im not accusing anyone or you of anything im just talking in genral.

forget that there are 4 listings that ended over £500.
Good greif thatys some profit!

Did the auction state that the tickets weren't avalible untill next year?
#8
you shouldnt sell them till you get them as they can say they didnt recieve them within paypals 45 day period
#9
Oh dear, someone actually paid £1000 for 4 tickets. I think im in the wrong profession.
I should just sit home all day buying tickets. lol.

ticket tout?

I thought the rules re Ebay stated that you couldn't sell tickets you don't have. I may be wrong but it would be best to check this out.
#12
ebay states you must be able to send the item to the customer within 30 days
#13
I would worry more about the buyer paying up, since you can't neg em anymore. The only concern you have is a CC chargeback as the timescale will not allow a paypal dispute since t will be more than 45 days. Expect the buyer to raise a dispute if they do pay as they obviously are stupid if they want to pay that much and probably didn't read the description.

Shame eBay exists. I've had some great laughs hearing about times when ticket touts have been stabbed outside gigs.

thought you could only sell 'pre-orders' providing they were shipped within 30 days?

This is true but never pull any listings because they make to much money out out of pre order tickets to remove just look at what op got for his.

Won't make a difference as I won't have the tickets and I'll just refund him.

ticket tout?

Funny you say that as the tickets were all seated together (four in total) and he asked about that. He said it was for "his party"
How much more can he sell them for?

My listing stated that tickets would not be sent until next year when I receive them.

Thanks for all your responses by the way.

You are allowed to sell tickets you don't have. Event tickets are now exempted from the 30 day policy.
