Advice Please

Hello everyone, i have been given the link to this forum from a member on another forum.

I have a problem regarding o2, basically it is explained below, it may be a long read but i would greatly appreciate your advice.

I took out a contract with o2 in june, i was told that numbers like 0800, 0870, 0845 would not be charged and would come off my minutes.

First month, i was billed for them, complained, and had it refunded, and was told that i wouldnt be charged for them again. I was charged again

I have now realised i have been being charged for these, and have rung up to complain, only to be told, basically tough ****

I was then told that they changed the terms and conditions of the contract and contacted everyone by text message and letter, i received neither and i am 100% sure of this. As i would have cancelled if i did

I have been told that as 30 days has passed since the 'text' if i want to cancel my contract i will have to pay the termination fee.

The terms of my contract have changed, and i did not agree to it, i have asked to be refunded for the charges i have had to pay so far and my contract cancelled. They say that wont happen without a termination fee and i have to contact the complaints department

Anyone clued up on this? i will be speaking to citizens advice tomorrow also, just would like to get views from people on here also

I really havent got the time pratting about sending letters back and forth about this, and feel i am perfectly within my rights to bill them for my time and costs posting the letters etc

Thank You

Gary

Dont bother posting in there, just get out of your contract. They have changed the terms of your contract and you have the right to terminate under their own contractural laws

they say because they notified me (i didnt receive anything) that i can no longer cancel my contract without paying the rest of it off

after being billed the first month you contacted them, the second month it happened again, so you havent checked any bills since:?

Indeed. If you had noticed on your first bill since - and straight away contacted them, you may have got round the "but I wasnt contacted" bit. But not this far down the line!

the reason i first rang them was because when my contract agreement came through, it said i paid for these calls, so i rang and they noticed the calls were charged and refunded me for them and assurred it wouldnt happen again

My bills dont come through by post, they are online, i get the price through, and pay it direct debit, never check, but this month my bill was 30 over standard, so i decided to check and found out that i was paying for them calls

The reason it was so high this month is i was ringing for car insurance quotes, hence me noticing

I can see your point and i can see it on their end also

But this is only the second bill i have received since the change

i think they will see it as just another customer trying to get out of a contract, but phone CAB next week for some advice

will do, going to go and speak to someone on monday

TBH, it was the only reason i took the contract out with them over orange

they offered 600mins, 1000 texts, free 0845 etc calls

orange offered

600mins, unlimited texts, chargeable 0845 calls

i was already with o2, and have been since i was 14 (all be it pay as you go)

had a contract phone with them since i was 18

The main problem i will have is proving i didnt receive the text, letter,
