OK so here is the story,

I sold and item on amazon quite a large item order cost me £15 to post it even thou amazon give u £6 to post it but anyway
The item was bought and paid for on tuesday 31 /05 on wednesday morning i posted the item to his address and thought nothing of it. on the same wednesday i got an email saying he wanted to cancel the order and get a refund as he was going to prison.
As i sent them item i emailed him saying sorry i cant cancel the order as the item has been sent and i heard nothing for a few days.

a few days later i got an email saying there is no cabels for the item in the box and he wanted to return it for a full refund

i explained the cabels dont come with it as you have to buy sepreate so again i didnt here anything.

later that day he eamil again saying the items dosnt work and he wants a refund

i know full well the item works as i was using it up untill i posted it

he is talking about getting the police involed and keeps sending emails demanding a full refund

i know he is trying it on and if i refund him im going to be nearly £25 out of pocket due to postage and amazon fee's

has anyone else experinced this what shall i do??

Don't do anything, hes going to prison soon!!

Sorry, that was of no help whatsoever!

if he did get the police in - which would be pointless, they would see that it works and you have done nothing wrong. dont give hima refund, hes just a skally trying it on

Tell him to get the Police involved (if he is going to prison I'm sure thats the last thing he wants to do) as you can prove item was sold as described.

oh dear another ebay problem. I really dont think its worth the problems ebaying...

honey as i read your problem, buyer wanted the item until he realised the cables were extra.

how about he returns the item to you and then you refund him his money and you can resell, just so you reach a mutual agreement.

otherwise as you say, he is still going to keep trying it on as he isnt happy about the deal as it stands. i'm sure he's just saying it doesn't work as its your word against his then.

How are Police going to get involved.... rubbish. At most its a civil dispute and Police are not allowed to get involved!

Comes under civil law....... his talking crap. Dont worry

It appears to have been sold through Amazon, not ebay.
Not sure about time delays either as OP states it was sold at the end of May?
Police won't get involved in this, the buyers local police will probably know him anyway, if he's going to prison. I'd tell him that you can't do a return and he'll just have to resell the item, or return it to the manufacturer.
Was it a PS3?

there is always problems selling things online

i would basically ask for proof that the item does not work, it would help a little more if we actually knew what the item was mind you.

stand firm, i think the prison comment was a bit of a lie to try and get you to refund the item hassle free.

Don't ask him to return it, coz he'll probably smash it up a bit first to make sure it doesn't work! Report it to Amazon straight away and send copies of all his emails, so they know that he has tried 3 different stories to get a refund. If he gets them involved (coz he won't get much luck getting the police involved) they should side with you coz you can prove he's been trying it on.

Ask him to provide an independent engineer's report on the item before you refund any money, that will shut him up. He's prob bullsh*tting about prison to try and scare you and knows he hasn't got a leg to stand on. Lol about the police thing!

As long as he didn't pay by Paypal you should be fine and I would send him one last e-mail and ignore him after that.

Tell him it's working fine and that he'll have to get his courier to return and uplift his item as you sold it and don't want it. And, you don't do refunds.

I trust you never arranged for him to return it to you/refund him?

You could always NOT accept it when it arrives?

If it arrives working, don't refund him, tell him it's working and that he's welcome to have it back if he wants to pay for postage again! I'm you're 100% adamant that it was working when you sent it, don't refund coz he might have purposely smashed it up. Let him take it up with Amazon. You can prove from his messages he wanted a refund straight away.

i think i would just accept the postage costs as a lesson learnt

personally, i'd be pleased to get it back and find that the person hadnt damaged it so it didnt work like he's suggesting it doesnt.

if hes done something to make sure its not working when it arrives back to you the problem continues....

why not refuse it when it arives and it will go back to him, not sure how this will go down with amazon ive never sold on there but if you havnt authorised a refund i wouldnt accept it
#22
Refund him minus the P&P costs :)
#23
Do not refund or accept the courier package.

YOu have an audit trail from his contact with you of his lies and deceit.

He has nowhere to stand!!!

If he tries it on anymore give me his address as I feel like a good fight :whistling:
#24
I agree with the others, refuse delivery.

I don't know how Amazon works so can't offer any advice.
#25
Don't accept the delivery... you haven't authorised a refund... he's at it!

tell the courier to return to sender or if your not in don't pick it up... he can pay to get it back!!
