is it advised that you lay your consoles flat whilst playing them? (both the PS3 and the 360)

i'm going to stand mines up to take up less space, although i've heard theres problems with 360 consoles scratching discs...

yeah i have heard that aboout the 360 too, i was also told when i bought my 360it stays cooler horizontal but i have read elsewhere the opposite!

Ive had my 360 standing up and flat and seemed fine either way. Though id probably recommend lying it down flat, just as a precaution

The 360 only scratches discs if you turn them on their side when a disc is still in them

The 360 will scratch the disc if the xbox is on and using whilst going from vertical to horizontal.

Microsoft recommended the xbox horizontal as it has less chance of falling off things/being kicked over etc

kinda makes sense as heat rises upwards and the heat sink is ontop of the processing unit, thts y my computer runs 2 degrees cooler when laid flat instead of standing it up but im not fussed, it will not make a huge differece as it was desined to be stored uprght as well as laid flat.

They shouldn't design them so they can be stood up and why make the stands for them to slot into if they better to be normal flat down.I keep mine flat down anyway and I make sure nowt goes around them so they overheat.

hmm i think i will put mine flat now lol

See where the fans are located and position the console relative to that bearing in mind that heat rises to the top.

I just place mine whichever is more convenient, the Elite/PS3 are flat but the Premium has spent most of its life horizontal. All work fine, the Premium is one of the originals and never had any issues.
