Advice Required Re Returning Iphone & £60 return fee

Bought myself and husband an iphone not received them yet but my husband insists he wants his sending straight back. I have looked at apple t&c's and it says i will have to pay a £60 return fee. I will not even be opening the packaging can I just not accept them from postie or will they still charge me. I thought I got 7 days to decide to keep or not under distance selling and all that.

Help could be a very very expensive mistake.

You should be allowed to return it within 7 days if it is completely as new

Correct, Distance selling regulations do not allow this type of fee.

No cost to return to Apple online if within at least 7 days...maybe 10 even...

you lot cheered me up no end but how do I avoid the fee surely they will only credit me back the 269 less 60. must be the blonde in me but never thought to read t&c's before hitting one click checkout. it definately says 60 pound fee and that i have to ring and get some authorisation code before posting. can you not just return it to apple shop. he's getting socks next time thats all i can say ;-)

Contact them now and tell them that you are returning the item under the distance selling regulations.

distance selling act gives you 14 day money back guarantee so apple shouldn't be saying theres any charge!

The best thing to do would be to refuse delivery and it'll be returned to sender then they have no reason to charge you as you've technically never received it!

Also, if delivery is refused, Royal Mail (If sent by RM) will keep it for a minimum of a week before sending it back.

This does save postage costs, it depends on whether you believe saving postage is worth this route.

just checked the iphone T&C's on the o2 site

if you bought from O2 or Apple direct then you have 14 days from when you recieve the iphone to return it with no charge; if you bought from CPW then you have 7 days

no £60 charge in the T&C's of the airtime agreement therefore you have nothing to pay

If you did not purchase your Mobile Phone direct from O2 you will also need to notify us of the return by contacting O2 Customer Service. You may activate and use your SIM Card in your Mobile Phone to connect to the Network during this period, but you will be required to pay for the cost of any usage you make such as calls, texts or data, including roaming or other usage that my take longer to be billed.

DSR gives you 7 working days starting the day after you recieve the item, however if you put the sim in and activate the service you will be deemed to have waived your DSR rights.

thats not the case with o2 - they let you use the service and see if you like it and if you return it they charge you for what you have used and thats all
