Answer: really easy. All you're looking for is a USB 3.5" HDD Enclosure. You can get them practically anywhere. If you can work a screwdriver, it would take you best part of 10 minutes to fit yourself.

The only thing you'll need to know is if the HDD is IDE (wide grey cable) or SATA (much smaller red cable), as the enclosure you buy will need the right internals to suit.

Remember that you'll also have a power supply for it so you'll need an external socket nearby.

Ebay item 130306722643 is typically what you'd need. £10 all in I think. I've not seen any as cheap as vinylandtrinkets found tho.

right i found one thats similar to the one i got 140308728054
this one is a sata 2.0 hdd caddy is this the type of caddy you want??

You were talking about a 2.5" HDD enclosure, the type of HDD you'll get out of a laptop. These can be powered directly from the USB socket (as does yours).

The OP needs a 3.5" one (from a desktop PC) so needs to be externally powered via the provided power supply.

The sort of thing you need is the enclosure ebuyer are selling for £9.99 .It's a enclosure for a IDE hard drive .It's a well made device that creates a external hard drive using usb or network ports . I just got mine yesterday and fitted a spare 80GB drive in it ,works great. I'll buy a bigger drive for it later.

use the search box at the top of the page and type in nas

NAS isn't the same as an external enclosure - if you got a NAS for 9.99 can you post a link?

Cool, personally I wouldn't touch Ebuyer extra value stuff as I've had too much of it go wrong.

Yes, in this case it's a NAS enclosure, but a HDD enclosure and a NAS enclosure are usually two different things.
