If the hard drive is the smae size just get them to swap it over in store.

Or contact Microsoft for new controller, or just buy new controller for around £15 (second hand)

What exactly is wrong with it though?

think you have run into a jobsworth there-I work in the games section in asda and I would have just changed the controller over from another console and returned that to microsoft.

you should call and ask for customer service manager and explain about the downloaded content -the customer service people probably just dont grasp the concept.

the sensible thing for them to do is just replace the controller and return the faulty one rather than send back a whole console-the policy they are quoting you is for damaged consoles-ie you need to return everything, but this is just the controller which we sell separate-I am sure if you call and politely explain about downloaded/saved content they will see the sense of it.

off topic but..................

modern warfare 2 price @ asda. any news?

he wouldn't lose anything he has downloaded. its linked to his gamertag so when he gets the new console he just recovers his gamertag and re downloads his stuff.
he will lose his game saves though. when my 1st 360 rrod I took it back to argos and after much wrangling I got to keep my old hard drive but I was extremely lucky.

CURRENTLY 37.71 m8 when we scan it but this is meaningless really until day before release when the final price comes down-we all expect a spectacular on it but thats a rumour-we have no confirmation at all from head office.

See if they will swap it, they would have to give you one the same or better.

If not, do what others have suggested.

Look here for a conroller for £14 2nd hand to keep him by for a bit

I would phone asda up and say to them cant you just swap the controllers over like every other shop would, as he has saves on the hard drive, and all the controllers are thworke same. If that does not look here they will def help, I know make asda feel bad about wanting to spoil a kids games by taking there saves though, its out of order hey wont swap just the controller over
