Can anyone help.
I bought my 6 year old girl a tv for Christmas and it has built in freeview.
Her bedroom is nowhere near an aerial socket so we have an indoor small portable aerial attached. The picture quailty is really poor and you have to stand on one leg with your arm bent at a 90 degree angle facing somewhere north of godknowswhere to be able to get any signal at all. Will an aerial booster solve the issue? We live on the second floor of a block of flats and can not put an external aerial outside her room.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

We had the same problem. Solved it using one of these http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5344204/Trail/searchtext%3EINDOOR+ARIEL.htm

Might need to play around to find the right place for it, but it should do the job.

If you get very little signal now an aerial booster will not help, you need to be facing at least the right direction of the nearest transmitter. Look out side and check out everyone else's aerials and which way they are facing.

If the signal quality is crap all a booster will do is amplify the crap: Garbage in, garbage out!

Just get a decent aerial installed, a TV needs a good signal.

Depending on the location inside, you could run a splitter from the main aerial socket and through to her room... get a better signal, but miles of cable instead.

So what you are saying is, there is no point in anyone buying an aerial booster because they don't work unless you have a strong signal to start with oO

booster will help where digital break up is evident on channels you do receive

No, there's a huge difference between signal strength and signal quality. A booster will up the signal strength (useful for feeding multiple TV's or improving a weak signal), it cannot provide a higher quality signal.
