I have two contract mobile phones which are eligible for upgrade tomorrow and don't really want new phones for either. I phoned O2 to see what they'd offer if I continued with a new 12 month contract and they said they would credit £100 for each to my bill... that seems a little bit poo!

I would really like a PS3 but can't afford one unfront - what do you think the best think to do is? Ideally I'd like to keep my numbers but a better deal is well worth texting my friends the new number.

Needs to be 12 months
Around £60 a month for both

Would like
A PS3
a couple of backup phones to stick in a draw if we lose either.

try e2save and use quidco to get some cashback..

can move your numbers over to the new contracts so save yourself a few texts!

you need the MAC code for each number and give it to your new service providers.

I was looking at e2save or onestopphoneshop (and quidco!) How long does it take once you receive the MAC?

something like this:
http://www.e2save.com/basket?PHPSESSID=qs9t8h88rumc8h8ubrpf93tpo0

get 2 and sell the other ps3 to make some money back.

quidco will give you £50 per fone right now too.

Scare them by threatening to leave you do have to send them a letter to dis connections
Just phoned O2 to cancel my sim only contract, £15 a month for 220 mins 400 texts,
"retentions" couldn't help so asked for address for O2 disconnections, sent the letter yesterday last post, today recieved a call from the "real retentions", they asked what I would need to stay with O2, I said I am leaving because Orange are doing a better deal 325 mins 100 texts, They would need to match it or I was leaving so he came back to me with this offer,
18 month contract,
online £30 for £15 per month,
400 mins, 1000 texts, plus O2 treats extra 20 mins
£180 cashback, (equal to first 12 months free), for not taking a new phone
O2 to O2 free,
Free itemised billing (normally £1),
So I took the deal, what a bargain.
Saved a total of,
£15 discount on online £ = £270
saved by not taking a new mobile = £180
itemised billing = £18
total saved £468 over 18 months!!
that works out as £90 for 18 month contract,
that is just £5 a month.
with the money you save you can buy a PS3 yourself, have still have £150 extra left over.

That's really helpful... it would be useful to know what other people have been offered too...

The £33 a month offer is only on an 18 month - would rather not tie myself in for that long as I'm taking a risk not getting phones this time... not likely they'll last...

I am still using my Samsung D500, which is 5 years old now and still as good as the day I got it, if it busts I will just buy a new phone, I was offered a BRAND NEW boxed, N95 8GB, at my local carboot, from a very reputable trader who I get my copied Epson ink cartridges off of, (it is only 1 year old and they are only £5 for a set of 4), and he buys them directly from the wholesalers and he was selling the for an amazing £120, Nokia website are selling them for £422.
