I said we were thinking of leaving (small white lie) and the fact we keep getting 'technical fault' messages on certain channels (which is true), not the end of the world but just to see what they would do for a loyal customer and i now have the next 6 months with 25% off and a new sky plus box being fitted next week.

Result.

I am thinking about trying it on with them. I am paying nearly £70 a month for Sky (all channels, one plus box and two standard boxes and multiroom) which pretty expensive. I might get rid of some of the channels as I don't watch them but I would still want Sports & Movies which is the bulk of the cost anyway.

I am also tempted by their HD Plus Box offer but I don't want to pay the £10 a month subscription cost but apparently they won't budge on this.

I might give them a call today and tell them I want to cancel and see what they can do.

its ppl like this that spoil deal ... they get wind of ppl pulling stunts and thats it !!!!:x

i pay around £80 a month to sky. 1 sky plus box, 1 multi room, broadband and phone. i dont even have the full skyu tv package, just basically eveything wthout movies and sports. i rang them a couple of days ago because my sky+ box was playing up and they told me i have to pay for someone to come and fix it. i argued that i have been a loyal customer and pay quite a bit to them every month and they still wont budge. i am going to call them again later and if i dont get any offers then i will cancel for real

I tried it on with the hd, played dumb and tried to use some charm with the young lady i was speaking to. She basically said she couldn't reduce it any further than £49 because of the huge discount already applied against hd. Shame really, but she did say to sit tight and wait for a bit as she thought that the £10 monthly charge would soon be scrapped, how true that is we can only wait and see.

Were you within your 12 month warranty?

Luckily, without me knowing i am by 3 weeks apparently, so thats probably why.

I think they will eventually. I am hoping they get rid of the £10 per month cost per extra box (multiroom) too, I am paying out another £20 a month just for that!

i think they may drop the £10 extra a month for the hd but i reckon thats years away remember sky+ wasnt always free, but they will never pull the plug on multiroom cost

just out of intrest what was error you were getting?

last few days ive been getting no satelite signaL being recieved have to swtch on and off to get it back

Keep getting 'Technical Fault With This Channel' message.

It is static on the line so they tell me, i have to pull the 2 pins out the back, reboot the box and all comes back to life.

thanks for reply that what i do and works fine after that tho its a pain in the a s s tho might give them a call as ive signed up for hd and multiroom so this is the box that will go into the bedroom dont want problems continuing

ouch never buy sky insurance if your box goes tell them your leaving no point paying for something you cant see they always back down and give you a new box

we got the insurance cos we had so many problems with our sky+ box over the first year :whistling: and after the first year we've had 3 or 4 replacement boxes the last one has double the storage capacity on it....
