Agreed 8Mb Tiscali Broadband For £4.99 For 12 Months - Now They're Not Honouring It

Called up to cancel Tiscali broadband a few months ago because they were not giving my Mum a wireless router

Also because as my Mum is with o2 mobile she could get the £7.50 broaband deal with a wiress router etc.

I was astonished when the Tiscali retentions guy told me he could beat o2 prices and he would increase speed to 8Mb and give us a wireless router all for £4.99 for 12 months. + phonecalls

Unfortunately it really was too good to be true because after 3 telephone calls to billing/sales/retentions I am being given the runaround.
They are still charging £15.99 + calls

The initial calls I made they told me that they didn't know why this hadn't went through and would sort it out for us through their admin

The call I made again today, they told me to again call sales, I did this and the person told me that this deal does not exist
She said the only thing I could do was to cancel the account and sign up for the £4.49 for 3 months. Aye right

She also said I could have the phonecall I made to the £4.99 retentions guy traced at a cost of £10.
She gave me the number to call

They are well at it and I would like to know what we should do next

I would really like to cancel the direct debit on these chancers

Any help would be appreciated

Assuming they haven't given you a router and your monthly charge(s) hasn't changed then obviously you're not in a new contract so I would just cancel and go with O2 like you were going to do.

We have the router plus the phonecalls have been added to the account as agreed.

Despite what It says on the bill and what the salesperson told me today the speed has definitely been increased from the 1mb. It's up to over 4mb which is about all my Mum can receive from the BT line

My parents are having a problem too, their internet was down for almost a month so they promised to credit the amount, plus the £15 made in calls plus extras.

They have proof of this but Tiscali didnt honour it and my parents didnt have the money in their account as they were expecting free 2 months, Tiscali disconnected them and sent debt collector letters(less thana month after money due) saying they want early cancellation fees, solicitor fees interetest and the remainder of the contract paid.

Tiscali are evil

Should have gone to o2 they rock and customer care does care we are on the £7.50 (upto 8 meg speeds package) yet this is our actual speeds: http://www.speedtest.net/result/276956187.png

Has anything further happened?

I would like to think that your parents and people like them get this scum sorted out somehow

I just don't know what to do next

Not yet, but this is why I tell people to steer clear of Tiscali as many people are just blinded by a cheap deal and then get stung on things like phone calls to the isp, connection down for days at time, slow speeds etc.

Constantly I see people assume it wont happen to them but when it does they shout lol(not you)

Well just offer to pay them the £10. If they find the recording then they will have to honour it and give you your £10 back. If they cant find it then you would have to get your £10 back and they would probably have to honour it anyway:whistling:

Also if the sales person said you could cancel then they have not signed you up for another 12 month contract.

Do NOT cancel the direct debit though. It would be a foolish thing to do although they probably deserve it.

All good advice! Its becoming an increasing problem where company customer services promise to do things, then dont - particularly bad where your contract is involved. I had a similar problem with T-Mobile, who lied through their teeth regarding being contacted. What was funny was because of the problems, I got a decent guy in their CS to deal with the repair department direct. When he chased it up, they claimed they had no record of his call either!!!

So you can plug along and hope Tiscali become an honest company, or simply ask for your MAC so you can migrate to O2 as you had originally planned. The latter seems the better option to me! If they try to claim you are tied into another contract, tell them you will be contacting Ofcom - and also the body that deals with ISP complaints. (Someone help out here - I cant remember their name!!!)

Good luck!

Im on 8mb's and get about 0.85mbps

I would like to go to o2 but LLU doesnt exist where I am so it would cost £17.50
