Morning All,

Ok i have bit of an issue now, On sunday i came back from my holiday and there i was at heathrow airport waiting for my suitcase and it never turned up. Anyways i reported it with lost luggage department at the airport and i have been phoning them everyday and it seems they can't track it anywhere.

Now what i want to know is how easy is it to claim for all the stuff inside? I had quite a bit of expensive clothes in there, but will i get refunded for it all or will i need provide proof????

Also will i have to go through my travel insurance or should i be taking this up with the airline?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

find out where the local auctions for lost luggage are. it'll be in one of those :)

unreal how they dont even open up the cases to see if they can trace the owners!

I believe you have to obtain a lost luggage report from the airline within 24 hours in order to claim too.

Reporting your lost luggage
It is to the airline that flew you to your destination that you entrusted the safe passage of your luggage and so if it has disappeared it is they who are responsible. Always report your missing items to the airline before leaving the airport and present your luggage receipt as proof of what you checked in. Asking to fill out a Property Irregularity Report (PIR) is also advisable as it will help with any future compensation claim that may be necessary.

This was with ethiopian airways...

Trust me the worst airline ever....outband flight was delayed by 14hrs....therefore missed connecting flight....next flight was delayed because of "exploded toilet", no leg room, inbound flight was also delayed by a couple of hours...and to finish it all off lost luggage....

I think its fair to say ethiopian airways is the worse!!!!!!!!!!!!
