Paul Downton to Cook:

"Last Christmas, I gave you the chance
But, the from very next day, you gave your wickets away
This year, so save you from tears
You should listen to Test Match Special"

Good move by the old boys at ECB. Cook is outdated and England need a pinch hitter opening up. Still won't do much at world cup but at least its progress

Hopefully he can sort his game out and get back to his best
feel he may have to give up the captaincy first

Correct decision and good to see the management making it.

This might be the best thing for Cook as now he can concentrate on what he has done best for England by scoring big runs at the top of the order that then allows the lower order to come in under less pressure.

We have the Ozzies coming again this Summer so need him in top form.

We desperately need Trott back as well but only if he truly feels he is up to it as the banter towards him from the Ozzies will be merciless.

Well I can't disagree with any of that something has gone horribly wrong with this thread
Must be Christmas or something :)

Good news, Jonathan Trott has been made captain to lead the Lions tour with Bairstow as the wicket keeper.

Good luck Trotty we are all wishing you well.

Funny thing is if anything it is the captain who still looks the weak link
not been in great form

Bah Humbug Bob Willis was saying on Sky that Morgan's recent form has been worse than that of Cook.

Don,t like to see Jimmy Anderson being risked playing one day cricket when he should be saved for the Test Matches.
