It's not easy to teach photoshop unless you have a certain thing that you want to do. eg. retouch a photo or change it's colours etc.

However, it is a good idea to do a bit of exploring by yourself, testing each of the tool on the left hand side and seeing what each one does. Most of my photoshop learning was through experimenting.

If you have anything that you specifically would like to know or do then I'd be happy to help.

[EDIT] I didn't read your post properly. So you want to do a logo? First thing I'd say is that you want to be using illustrator for that.

Just remember the program does it in layers so usually each image or text you add is a layer. So to amend something you will first need to select the correct layer that main box is bottom left (useless you moved it!)

once you done you will need to "flattern image" to make it final but only do that if your sure its how you want it!

So I'm gathering that you want to make a logo for yourself? Like how graffiti artists make tags for themselves?

First thing is how you want your logo to look.
You'll want it to represent you.
So take into consideration things like: your personality, things you like, things you dislike etc.
Start by sketching ideas down on paper until you arrive at something you like.
Remember, keep it simple.
Then you can begin to transfer it onto the computer.
You'll want to use Illustrator because it deals with vector graphics which is what you need when designing a logo.
