My partner logged into her Yahoo mail account today and every piece of mail has disappeared except for one which arrived today.

It's her only email account and she uses it every day. She hasn't deleted anything intentionally, but ALL folders are empty except that single message from a friend in her inbox.

Can't find any buzz about it so presume it's not a server problem. Any ideas?

It sounds as if it has all been deleted?
send them an email asap to see if it can be saved. Good luck!

Yes, she's out now but will ask her to email them once she gets back. Really strange that it's all gone like that - and I'm sure it's nothing that she did.

Thanks for the luck - I think she'll need it!

for the future - it may be worth setting up something like outlook to have as a sort of back up - plus you can access it offline - it supports multiple accounts (and you can set a password for it in case you share the computer)

everyone should be using gmail anyway - best email evah eleventy one shift shift one and so forth

Yes, thanks. I've suggested the benefits of gmail before but she was happy with Yahoo. Perhaps this will change her mind though.

i deleted my whole yahoo account a few days ago. hope it isnt my fault...lol

Maybe next time she signs in it will all have mysteriously returned just as it disappeared. These things have so many bugs.

Good luck in finding those lost mails xx

Update before expiring - we contacted Yahoo who investigated it and say all mail was downloaded by POP access and then deleted. Since this was not done by her, it seems the account was hacked. She was using a very obvious password, something that could have been guessed from the email address alone. I didn't know she had chosen such an insecure password when she first set up the account. Oh well, lesson learned.
