My 2 year old daughter comes out in a rash sometimes that the doctor says is an allergy rash. He said it was most likely washing powder which i thought it was as it happens everytime she goes to her grannies who uses a bio washing powder but she has since swapped washing powders to the non bio one i use yet my girl came back tonight from her grannies with the rash again. Any ideas what she might be allergic to as the rash lasts for days and makes her really miserable and i want to try and get to the bottom of it as its such a shame on the poor wee thing

Has granny got any pets that she might be alergic to?
Perhaps if she only switched for the one wash there were still residues of bio in the macine?

Could be something grannie is giving her to eat or drink:

My son developed a purple rash on his torso which slowly spread to all his limbs.... took us a while to figure out he's allergic to ribena!

Good luck - keep us updated.

That sounds like the exact rash. I will have to find out what she has been eating and drinking. I did think it was strawberries at one stage but she had one a couple of weeks ago and no rash:?

When my boy had it, we'd run out of our regular juice and he was drinking the only thing the corner shop had to offer - it was a hot summer (several years ago obviously!!!) so he went through about a litre of cordial in a week. As soon as he started drinking something else, it started to vanish.

I must say though, it didn't really affect him too much in any other way - he wasn't "ill" with it.....

(He'll be 8 next month and sticks to orange juice now!)

You could try Ecover , i had test done when i was little to see what i was allergic to , seems i was allergic to everything under the sun , dogs , cats , dust , dairy etc lol

I'm not so bad now , but i still sometimes wake up like I've been attacked by a wild cat where I've scratched myself while asleep ....sometimes a tad embarrassing as people may think a woman has done it lol

True allergy to washing powder / fabric conditioner is very rare.

However, it suits companies to perpetuate that you need the gentlest products for kids (which you don't).

Much more likely to be related to animal fur of one type or another, hopefully will grow out of it.
