Alternative Macbook Pro £999?

I was looking at the Macbook pro with the i5 processor for £999 but thought it's quite expensive and I could just be paying for the brand.

What other alternative laptops are there for a cheaper price that people can recommend, I've been eyeing up the Sony Vaio? And can anyone justify the £999 price tag for the Apple.

PS. I'm an Apple fan so I'm not slating their products!

Macbook pro from apple education store, available to anyone, discount and 3 year warranty. Doubt you'll find a better deal £859.20.

if you have any questions about the vaios btw, give me a shout as i used to work at a sony centre so am familiar with most, for instance i would steer clear of there E range if your budget can reach up that high, the SR range are better but to be honest the quality in finish isnt really comparable to the macs,

envy's are work a look though

I had been told about this deal. How do I get that price pal? It would certainly make me think twice.
