Am I bad???

I was just waiting for some new posts to appear on here, (sad, I know, but I'm at peace with it and that isn't the question!) and I stumbled upon bebo, my daughter was on earlier. WELL... before I knew it I was reading up on all her buddies, checking out how many of them were male.... what they were talking about.... etc....!
The question is, should I have just closed the window?

Unfortunately she will do it whether or not you tell her to close her account. Perhaps, if your concerend, you should just let her know that a lot of people out there want to meet new friends. But there are a lot of people out there who also want to just meet for something else. Im certain she already knows that, just let her know that you dont want her to be secretive of what she is doing and that she should feel free to talk to you about it.

That is the way I see it. We have talked about all the dangers and stuff. She must feel pretty safe with me, she hadn't even bothered to close the window! Banning somthing only makes it look more attractive. Thanks for the advice!:)

my daughter is also 12, i think that if you allow them the access to the the computer you should respest thier online privacy in the same way as you would expect your privacy not be intruded upon,
In think that you should mention that she left it open and tell her to make sure she closes it in future,:-D

In principle, I agree, but she is a hormone riddled bag of nonsense at the moment! She just doesn't seem to have any sense at the mo!!! I'm sorry but I think I would rather intrude on her privacy then pick up the pieces after a major mistake! Or worse!

Until they are 16, I say spy on them and make sure they are 'behaving' online

My mom was sat on the loo one day reading my diary (as you do) when the school called and said she had to pick me up as I was ill. She was like "Sh!t" and was running around frantic trying to put it back lol. She confessed to me but it was funny imagining her all panicked.

Anyway, don't worry about it, you're not bad. I'll be stalking my son's every move up until he's about 42 (I'm 20 at the moment and he's only 2 so I've got years to go lol) Also, I'm going to get him a top printed and make him wear it everytime he's out saying "How's my behaviour? Call 0121 *** ****" like you get on the back of wagons?!

agree 100% - it is your responsibility to look after them and know what they are up too - they ARE still children after all!! No room for regrets!!:)

I think you did exactly the right thing, sure you should respect their privacy, but with the dangers of the web these days it is a foolish parent who doesn't look out for the children.

My neighbour recently came accros his daugher's Bebo profile and found a picture of her posing in here underwear. Now she was only showing her profile to friends, but then you never know who is posing as a friend.

I check my sons' activities etc on the internet. My eldest has facebook but cancelled him from my friendlist as he is now 18 and there are just some things a mother should not see!

I did this also, i set her msn to keep copies of her conversations. She is Naive and i am soo glad i checked. She was banned for months off it. She can go on it now on the understanding she knows i can and will check ( I dont anymore, but she doesnt know that)

Mind you shes 15 now lol, my worried were justified so im glad i invaded her privacy, i would do it again, i would do anything to protect my kids, if it means snooping then so be it. Call me bad i dont care:-D:p

not bad imo, i regulary check all history etc to see what the kids are up to, i sign in msn on all theirs too and check their friends lists, you just cant be too careful
