#2
i cant be bothered with it either!
#3
I wont be going out either-glasgows new year in town is crap(michelle mcmanus is the entertainment highlight-says it all really). Went to edinburgh last night for the torchlight parade and fireworks and theatre afterwards-not going tonight tho cos the crowds will be crazy.Kids are all going to parties so will be just me and mrs barky and 3 year old-coupla ciders and watch a movie and avoid all the kilt swinging hooching chooching programmes on telly.
#4
same here and i'm only 41 lol biggest rip off night going!
#5
I agree, going out is why to expensive at new year. So staying in with a Chinese, a nice red wine and a couple of films.
#6
Me and the wife are staying in having a nice meal, and watching a movie, don't drink so complete waste of time unless you into drinking and partying. Neither entertain me, were going to go out for a meal, but will be going tomorrow instead.
#7
i never go out on new years eve, house party in my mates instead, much better, and have alot more fun. ive been out once on new years and was sobering up waiting to get served all the time was no fun :(:p
#8
I am not sure, as I have a little bit of cash left and know I would spent like a weeks money in one go which would of covered everything.

Plus dont want to get drunk and be badly hungover next day.

But I want to go out.

NYE is rubbish, OP hit it on the head, takeaway, drinks at home, film, perfect!
#10
I'm only 21 and we decided to stay in too, not worth the hassle! Far too expensive!
#11
Work for me the nighshift yippeee

House party / stay in is the way forward. A club I go to often is charging £15 entry for tonight, when I usually pay just a few pounds on a normal night! And no doubt drinks will cost 2 or 3 times as much as usual.
#13
Just realised that the clubs in my local area are well known for watering down drinks, at least on promotional nights but I bet they do the same tonight.
#14
30 here
getting takeaway (dominos shuts at 7.45...damn it!) and chill out with sister who is down.
#15
I can't stand NYE, I am younger than you OP (lets just leave it there!)
When you go out you get everyone trying to snog you at midnight, urgh!!!
#16
Don't more people stay in than go out on NYE these days anyway? All you're doing tonight is (usually) paying excessive entry fees and higher costs for just about everything, to do something you can do at regular prices the other 51 weekends of the year.

We have the oppertunity to go out as kids have gone with my mum and dad to there holiday chalet for a big party ( they have a better social life than me oO ) ...but at 40 ive been and done all the hassles of new year and getting ripped off , so like you op .....staying in a nice warm house with a nice meal, few drinkies and watching tv appeals more to me :D

I've been invited to friends for drinks tonight, but my kids have been away for the last couple of days, so looking forward to seeing them and having a cosy night in at home. Did my partying last night instead, lol, which was nice.

And hey Father Ted is on Channel 4 tonight too, woohoo, cup of tea anyone? Ah go on................

Hope you have a good night too and Happy New Year :)

Thanks Happy New Year to you too :) 2011 brings my 30th birthday with it so hopefully its a good one :)

All you younger folks will regret it when you are older and can't get out with kids and stuff! oO ...or even worse when you have to go to in laws etc!

Me...at least I did it all every year when I was teens/twenties...now it is optional. Staying in tonight looking for any bargains that get posted... :p ...and a film, wine and maybe dance naked round the lounge with the other half...
#32
After the fiascos last year I've decided not to bother, to much grief, too expensive all to celebrate a +1 number change. That and my moneys now going on the £99 wii deal I've seen on here :D
#33
Last few years have been expensive for me NYE rip off prices, we always end up buying champagne between all of us at stupid prices, last couple of years we just do house parties much cheaper and better imo! No point spending silly monies on just another Friday night as I see it!
#34
I cba going out full of a cold but my boyfriend is coming out with me (it's a first) and going to a comedy club so gonna make the most if it!!
#35
Me neither, 34 now, haven't done all the new year going out thing for at least 10 yr, it's expensive, cramped and cold
suspended#36
Im not out either, But glad coz i think ive got a ear infection :(

Staying in as well. We stay in Stirling in Central Scotland and if we go out on the town the "entertainment" is Wagner (X-factor) "performing live" at Stirling Castle.

Unfortunately we only stay about a mile from the Castle and given the right wind the sound might waft our way so busy looking out things to cover the Cats and Dogs ears - not bothered about the fireworks at midnight as they aren't scared of them but Wagner but might be a different kettle of fish.

All the best when it comes.

I'm having a bath in a minute then might have a nap.

Eat some of the lovely stew that my man is making me and then decide whether I am go to a club or not.

I need a dance with my cousin.
