Black Friday Announcements
The start of Black Friday Deals Week is only five days away, and as the countdown continues we'll be revealing some of the deals you can expect to see. Keep an eye on this section for a sneak peek, as we'll be adding more info every day.

We'll have over 200 deals, including:
Over 50% off Sony Blu-ray players
Over 60% off RRP Eternity Moment Eau de Parfum
Over 60% off Flip Mino High Def Camcorders
Over 60% off Nintendo Wii consoles
#7
As soon as these deals become available - they will go very fast especially as they will only be limited numbers at the reduced price.

Subscribing to Amazon's Twitter page might be a good idea or perhaps Hotdeals could tweet these as soon as they are spotted and not when they've been "hot" for a little while (by which time they will have sold out)
#8
Latest: 60% off XBox consoles
#9
TBH I would rather they offered say 20% off products in which they have plenty of stock rather than 50% when they likely only have say 100 at that price.
#10
The Amazon Twitter feed is probably the best source of updated information - recent additions include mentions of 50% off sony TVs and 50% off Raleigh cycles

I can see the Amazon server going falling under due to the volume of demand.:D
Gonna be mad but i'm loving the sound of this.

just had a quick look and on paper it appears to be good but when you look at it more its not as good as you think

example is 60% off Flip Mino High Definition Camcorders thinking nice pressy for the wife went to look but noticed they are already reduced from the RRP so if this deal is a reduction from the RRP your getting another £10-20 off nothing to be sniffed at but not what you think
if your getting 60% off what they are selling now for then its a steal

i looked at several things and notice the same on a lot of the items so if its a reduction from the RRP then its not as good as you think

The Amazon website is now showing this information on their Black Friday page....

Lightning Deals?Find out how to bag a Black Friday bargain, by visiting our Lightning Deals help page.

Lightning Deal Overview
A Lightning Deal is a promotion in which a limited number of discounts are offered on a single item for a short period of time. They can be found throughout Amazon.co.uk, and they are available, one per customer, until either the promotion period for the deal expires or all the available promotional discounts are claimed.

When a Lightning Deal is active, here's what you'll see:

The specific item eligible for the deal.
The RRP (where available) and the current Amazon.co.uk price of the item.
The promotional discount and Lightning Deal price.
A progress bar showing what percentage of available promotional discounts have already been claimed.
A timer showing how much time is left to claim the available promotional discounts.

Finding Lightning Deals on Amazon.co.uk
Lightning Deals appear on the category pages accessible from the "Shop All Departments" menu. Lightning Deals may not always be available in all categories.

Lightning Deals that are not yet available will be marked "Coming Soon", with the exact start time listed. These will be marked "Upcoming Deal"

Claiming a Lightning Deal
To claim a Lightning Deal:

Visit the deal on Amazon.co.uk during the time period it is active either before the promotion time period ends or before all available promotional discounts.

Click the Add to basket button on the specific Lightning Deal to claim one of the available promotional discounts. The Lightning Deal promotional discounts are only available through the Lightning Deal offer and not directly from the product detail page. Note: For some populer deals, you'll see a "Waiting in the Queue" message while we validate and process requests on a first-come first-served basis. See "Why am I waiting in a queue?" below for more information.

Sign in to your Amazon.co.uk account if prompted. Note: You must complete your order using the same Amazon.co.uk account you use when claiming the Lightning Deal. Lightning Deal promotional discounts are not transferrable to other Amazon.co.uk accounts.

Complete your order through the Shopping Basket as soon as possible after claiming the Lightning Deal. Note: Lightning Deal promotional discounts are only valid until 23.59 the day claimed and will then expire. We cannot honour a Lightning Deal promotional discount after it expires. Quantities of some items may be limited, and adding an item to your basket does not reserve that item for you. If an item is out of stock when you place your order, the promotional discount will still apply to your order when the item is back in stock and dispatched.

Look for the promotional discount amount in the "Promotion Applied" section of the Order Summary before you place your order. Your order confirmation e-mail will also contain information about the Lightning Deal promotional discount applied to the order.
After you click the Add to basket button and claim the promotional discount, you'll see the Lightning Deal's status change to "Claimed," and you won't be able to add additional quantities of the same deal to your basket. Only one promotional discount is available per Lightning Deal per customer.

Why am I waiting in a queue?
For some very popular Lightning Deals, you may see a "Waiting in a Queue" message after you click the Add to basket button that could display for several minutes. For all Lightning Deals, we'll verify eligibility on a first-come first-served basis before applying the promotional discount to an account. While we're keeping your place in line, please don't reload or refresh the page in your browser. If promotional discounts are still available for the item when we get to your request, you'll see the status change to "Claimed" and the item will appear in your basket. If all promotional discounts are claimed before we get to your request, you won't be eligible to receive the promotional discount.

Why does the Lightning Deal say it is Expired/Sold Out?
After all the time period for the deal ends, the Lightning Deal will be marked "Expired." After all the promotional discounts have been claimed, the Lightning Deal will be marked "Sold out." You will usually have the option to visit the item's product detail page and purchase it at the current Amazon price, but the purchase will no longer be eligible for the Lightning Deal promotional discount.

The bit about the "waiting in a queue" is interesting but so is this bit

If an item is out of stock when you place your order, the promotional discount will still apply to your order when the item is back in stock and dispatched.

Only if purchased via the lightning deals box, doesn't apply to items before and after.

The funniest thing about all the whining is people obviously don't know what Black Friday is and what it's like.

Black Friday in America is a riot of crazy shoppers fighting for a few limited items in the shops...........Amazon are being accurate. lol

I would liken it to primark on it's first opening day - scrummage
