Amazon return for a replacement out of stock

Got something a month ago - faulty. Still within 30 days of purchase (just). Anyway, I want a replacement but its out of stock and Amazon want the original back in 30 days. Should I just wait to request a replacement and be out of 30 days or wait til they get some back in stock to get replacement?

You may as well just send it back now as you gotta wait for the item to be back in stock anyway
before they send you the new one....

They usually say you´ll get it once they have more stock.
If it´s something they don´t get in anymore, they will refund you.

Its a camera, was quite a bit cheaper than other retailers so not keen on a refund.
Yeah I can imagine.
Which one is it?
If it was a sale item of an "old" model they probably won´t get more.
But you never know....
Its the Canon 500d....still a current model :)
Oh, well then you shouldn´t have a problem getting a replacement.
I find giving them a call is usually best as things get sorted faster that way.
