Amazon Supersaver Delivery is just so SLOW!

I ve been buying from Amazon for years now, and have always used the supersaver delivery option.

Is it just me or are the deliveries just really slow now? Usually I get my items within a week, now its takes around 5 days for it to get dispatched (in stock items) and then another 7-8 days for it to be delivered (all different delivery companies).

I don't use it enough to warrant the £50 for next day delivery for a year, but it pointless if Play can do a good job with free delivery. Really put me off ordering from them tbh.

Anyone with the same experience?

Yes I think they do this deliberately hoping we will pay the extra for the quicker delivery service !
Yep whenever I order with free delivery it takes ages.

1st class post is often next day.

I also think its a deliberate ploy...
My supersaver orders always take forever to arrive yet the twice ive paid for 1st class delivery, its still taken ages so im not going to waste the money on 1st class from now on
Well its taken 2 and 3 days for last 2 deliveries in last week, one from Jersey, one from UK.

I decided I could wait and it was not slow. If you cannot wait then its going to cost you £3 to £4.

Luck of the draw. Its £4 to £6 elsewhere in all cases!
Its getting on my nerves as well nearly all other major internet retailers offer free postage and can deliver within a reasonable time frame. Amazon seems to delibately slow down the dispatch and delivery. It never used to be like this and I wish Amazon could start delivering like it used to. I know that they say it will take longer but it never used to take so long and by giving free delivery they were meant to be rewarding you for spending more with them. If PLAY, HMV, CD WOW etc can all offer free delivery and dispatch within 24 hours I am sure amazon could afford to seeing as they are no longer the cheapest for most items so are already making more profit then these companies.
Well, I ordered a pair of trainers from Amazon on Wednesday last week, I am wearing them right now!
I went for the supersaver delivery option and was very surprised with the speed of the delivery, so will have to dissagree with the OP, sorry.

Super Saver Delivery used to be fairly quick, but then they changed the delivery company they use for 2nd class mail about 6 months ago (to TNT?) and ever since it has been slow.
Ordered a shaver on tuesday, was dispatched thursday (day earlier than they said) and was delivered saturday
Amazon went from being my favourite online retailer to my least favourite, what with the slow delivery and annoying marketplace integration into the search etc. Hate using Amazon these days and avoid it where ever possible.
I've noticed that they've slowed down DRASTICALLY, but only since introducing more expensive postage options. It used to be that items always arrived before the predicted delivery date - not it's not unusual for them to arrive MUCH later. And even when it's not a holiday period, I'm finding that sometimes items listed as 'dispatching soon' sit for a week or more before they actually even dispatch.
wow super historic bump

Joined 3 minutes ago, resurrects 4 year old thread...
Almost 5 year old thread..(_;)
Amazon now use 2nd class post for all super saver orders. Is just an ploy to get you use Prime or them lock up boxes.
I'll check back in 5 years to see if anyone has replied
That's me ditching Amazon as much as I can now, 4 things ordered from Amazon, on Sunday, none of them here on the following Friday, had enough! goodnight and goodbye. Helps to know that ditching them is also good for the UK Plc, due to their UK tax position on profits.
Funny enough I found this old thread via Google because I found that Amazon has started to deliberately slowing down dispatch and delivery processes. Disgusting.

Point for Ebay.
I've used lost over the years. In the past I my orders were usually dispatched within 24 hours with Super Saver Delivery. However the last year or so dispatch almost always takes 48+ hours plus before they get around to dispatching. Seeing that I live in Denmark its either Super Saver or Super Expensive shipping (My latest order was £36 and the cheapest non Super saver was £26, which would have made my purchases more expensive than in retail stores). If they keep this up I don't see myself using half as much as in the past.

I didn't know Amazon offered a "Super Expensive Shipping" service. You'd think they would name it something else! -1 for their marketing team anyway
Ordered a book over the bank Holiday weekend

Didn't know how long it would take to arrive, especially bearing in mind a possible backlog due over the three days

Got confirmation of dispatch on Tuesday night, arrived Thursday morning

That was my last purchase, and it arrived in good condition, and very quickly, even though I used 'Super Saver' delivery

I personally cannot fault them tbh
Same here - Amazon now also seem to have First Class post as the default and you need to opt for free delivery. Their estimates for deliveries are now also stretching out to over 5 days. The 'Despatching now' notice appears VERY quickly (which makes it harder to cancel) but despatch can take days and days. In other words - Amazon is becoming more of a liability than a benefit. I try to use affiliate sellers wherever I can and have found them to be massively more efficient, probably because they still value custom and customers and want return business. Amazon just assumes you'll go with them and they don't give a damn about you.
I hadn't ordered anything from them for a few years and was surprised at just how slow it's got.

I recently ordered a doll that took 16 days to come (it was in stock) and a bluetooth audio receiver which so far has taken 6 days and hasn't been dispatched.

It used to be dispatched within 24hrs and you'd normally get it with 2 or 3 days of ordering. I (like others) can't help but feel it's deliberate to get people to sign up to Amazon Prime.
Ordered a load of items the other day, most from amazon or furfilled by amazon; but i had one item from another seller. That item shipped the next morning and arrived the next day. My items from amazon shipped 4 days after that item arrived and 3 days after have still not showed. Thats the last straw for me amazon made everything convinient by having everything, but its not worth being messed around for. They would have shipped next day if i paid.
I haven't really had a problem with it. I usually receive the item with 2-3 days, I even received it the next day once which was pretty shocking. It seems to take a couple of days to dispatch now though.
Ordered lego set monday morning. By thursday afternoon still hadnt dispatched (was a present for sunday) so cancelled order...15 mins later i get dispatched email , parcel arrived next day.

Thing is I sell on amazon and I have to dispatch quicker than what they have to. I post my orders same day yet they have to cheek to stop me selling toys every christmas.
