I had an amex card just to use for the 5% off for the first 3 months a couple of years ago and have never used it since.

Just got a letter from them which I normally throw away. Luckily, I checked this one and they are introducing a £20 annual charge to all card holders who havent used their card in the preceding 12 months.

Cancelling mine now.

Thanks for posting this, they probably know most of us dont read all the leaflets they send and are hoping to rake in lots of easy money!:x

note that its charged when your card has been dormant for 12 months after your card's anniversary

When I cancelled, the guy laughed when i said it was because of the new T&C's and went on to say they are being overwhelmed with cancellations since the letter was sent out.

Someone is in for the chop I reckon :w00t:

Yeah but these cancellations are from people who never use their card!!
It costs them money to re-issue cards so im sure they can do without dormant accounts anyway.

That said, make sure you cancel it if you may not use it.

yup, from their POV they will be happy to lose dormant customers. Use your card every 12 months to keep it. Better than an annual fee.
