You don't want to cut your nose off to spite your face on this.
Buy the converter and enjoy whatever it is your bought. Then write a polite letter to head office explaining that according to the Sale of Goods Act 1979, they are in breach of contract and you are requiring a satisfactory solution.
Don't spit your dummy out, and don't get personal. Just stick to the facts and you'll probably get a load of vouchers or something.

Hope that helps.

If you took away all the boring thread there wouldn't be much left, but if its so boring why read it to the bottom to know it was?

Goods supplied for sale in UK should have the correct mains plug fitted and Trading Standards should be very interested if they do not. Having said that there are a few exceptions, details here.

You contacted your council re: this? What is the matter with you? Either give it back or get a plug converter. Very simple. I'm lol-ing because you're probably getting stressed out over this.

I think the reason it had an American plug on it is because the manufacturer assumed that only idiot Americans would buy a fountain for a dog instead of leaving it to drink the water its got in its bowl (which the dog would if left to its own devices!)

Why would the water in his bowl be dirty? Dogs arent fussy, owners are! If you left the bowl of water down he would drink it.

when he drinks out of it once he doesnt touch it again thats why i use a bottle its easier and can get more down him

sorry but you are making a rod for your own back.
just put the water in his bowl on the floor he will drink it eventually lol.
when i first got my dog she wouldnt eat and i bought every type of dog food going truth is i was wasting my money in the end i just put complete food down until she ate it and here i am now over 2 years down the line and shes not starved!!

What the hell is wrong with some people?? The time it has taken you to rant on the internet and harass trading standards you could have either bought a plug converter or just taken it back to the shop for a refund.

OP, I can sympathise with your plight, however simply by relocating yourself and the dog to the USA will resolve this issue.
