TEAM KHAN

typical over hyped fighter khan is, just like the price was. First time prince fought a "decent" fighter he got into trouble, anyone remember kevin kelly?

khan is taking on barrera cuz he's a grandad. khan wouldn't even have a chance of winning the fight if barrera was in his prime.

I think this is a BIG gamble fight for Amir.
He will have his work cut out against barerra - he is still is world class.
If he wins, it could catapult him back to where he needs to be. But, if he loses it could be game over? (Really sorry to think with his talent).
I think Amir STILL needs experience in the professional game, I mean against wiley, been around the block stayers, who can take him the distance. Barrera is a step up, experience and class wise. Amateurs - Big fish, small pond - Professional - Small fish - big pond.
But if he keeps his gloves up, chin down and his fast hands snapping he may have a chance. Good luck Amir:thumbsup:

Let's hope Khan doesn't bring his glass chin with him to the fight :)

See this one being close and probably going to a points decision.
#5
yeah it'll be close but dont you think the barrera or 7 or 8 years ago would have laid him out easily?

With Khan's chin Barrera in his prime would have KO'd him inside 3 rounds (IMO). Bit different now what with Barrera very much in the twilight of his career and you'd probably put Khan down as a slight favourite but at the same time I wouldn't be surprised to see Barrera win this. (Can't wait for the fight!)

Sky now have the broadcasting rights for his matches don't they?

i agree with you 100%. don' think khan would have lasted a crack with berrara in his prime.

Not sure if sky have the rights or not, i won't be paying to watch! God bless streaming video online!

Sky have a contract for about 20 fights I think. The first he got smashed to bits in. This is a definite do-or-die. But Sky have probably set it up for that reason, if he wins they'll get their monies worth and a few fights, if he loses he'll disappear into obscurity the contract can probably be broken up and Khan probably won't get another 20 fights the rest of his career.

I think Barrera could knock him out. Khan's been found out and he's unlikely to improved ten-fold in the last year to be able to handle it, his last win was nothing of note. If he can knock a guy down 2 times in 20 seconds it doesn't say much about the fight to be honest.

prince was nowhere near one of the greatest boxers around. in britain maybe he was. Worldwide he wouldn't be in the top 10 at his weight. As i said the first good fighter he ever met was kevin kelly. He stopped showboating then when he was floored. BTW kevin kelly wasn't a "great" fighter either.

Negative captain.

Prince naseem was one of the best boxers who could have been something, he just wasnt exploited to his full potential, he could have been a "legend" instead hes just one of the "greats"

The prince was one of the best of our generation, he was probably one of the few people on the planet who possessed such devastating knock out power his style was unique and he is without a doubt one of the few who put boxing back on the map especially in the UK give him credit where credit is due.

^Watch 2.19secs-2.42secs LOL :)

As for the barrera ......Nas's own trainer wanted to quit because Nas just wasnt training or showing up to train this is quite well documented and you can see yourself how he got beat because of his lack of dedication at that time im not making excuses but Nas had all the tools to beat barrera he just didnt know how to use them against such a classy technical fighter like barrera and failed to do his homework.

Forgot to add im picking Amir for this fight, barrera imo is shot dont forget hes coming up in weight for this fight and Amir imo is alot faster and will probably have more thirst, however i know barrera still has a decent chin so this fight should be good the experience is all on Barreras side but lets see

I got my cake on Amir and hopefully he knocks him out.

the term world champion if funny, who did he fight? no bodies and has beens. i was reading an article where the term boxing great meant that if you were beating by someone you would chase a rematch and beat them, just like many of the great fighters. prince turned down a rematch with berrera, turned DOWN! he didn't want to know, why was that? he didn't want beat again. even the pocket rocket went 12 rounds with him. why did he never fight erik morales or any other good fighters? he choose to pick the steve robinsons, lol. no doubt prince had an awesome thump, and was decent when he decided to box instead of showboat. however boxing GREAT, he is not. he maybe could have been. however could have been isn't good enough.

He beat all 3 major belt holders, 4 if you include the WBO during his run. He also beat a few guys who went on to win world titles and a hand full of former champions. He really cleaned out the division it took MAB coming up from 122 to beat him.

He would have easily beaten guys like Pac, Chi or Harrison. Guys who come at him are guys he ate up. The guys who gave him problems are counter punchers and guys who like to stay back.

100% agreed, this is a common cliche quoted by forum following part time boxing fans imo, also the fight with barrera was absolutely NOWHERE near the whitewash people seem to think it was( quit watching the barrera highlights on youtube guys), it was a decent fight won by the better prepared man on the evening, anyone who downplays how hamed dominated the featherweight division for years is a fool imo

mcnally32

i have the complete naz career fight selection on dvds, at the end of one of his title defenses hes is very loudly and clearly calling out morales
[mod]#26
Should be a good fight but i think that Barerra will win, especially if he gets a clean shot in as Khan's jaw is very suspect. A step up in class for him too soon i think.
#27
Really want barrera to win this one, not because I hate Khan (although I think he is overhyped). But Barrera is a legend, the man has been through so many wars. Khan and Warren are expecting him to be old and shot, however we will have to see but Barrera's experience could give khan nightmares.

Thing is tho khan is talented, but his chin is made of glass which makes me think he can never be the no.1 in his weightclass, he doesnt have the defense skills of mayweather or reflexes of RJJ. Anyone he fights will be confident they can knock him out like Prescott did in under a minute

agree totally that barrera is a legend, a true boxing great. I didn't dislike prince, thought he was very entertaining and when he wanted to box he was a good boxer. He just never made it to an all time great. guys look back at the all time greats. prince missed out at least 5 of the worlds best fighters. Calling morales? lol, talk is cheap. he didn't call barrera for a second time round, lol. I do agree though barrera didn't embarrass him, it wasn't totally one sided.

Do keep up, the links posted were when the discussion was regarding Khan vs Barrera as per the thread title. Not quite sure how you can deduce that the opinion was that Hamed/Barrera fight was a whitewash on the basis of posting a youtube link  Anyone who watched the fight live would know it was a fight Hamed would and perhaps should have won had he have prepared properly. Or was this comment misguided and aimed elsewhere? What were you, 10 when the fight took place?

the point of was he a legend is debatable. the fact you say he still is, is a joke. he nearly killed someone trying to show off and spent time in jail and is now a blob compared to what he once was. He could still be world champion if he hadn't went to the dogs. Still a legend i think now.
