Andre Arshavin - greedy stupid *******

Quite happy to take £80k per week but not realising how high our tax is (shouldn't his agent have told him ?) , the idiot is now crying and trying to renegotiate his deal which is all of 3 months old. I know what my answer would be if I was Arsenal. Who said footballers were spoilt and stupid ?

Comments ?

(btw I'm not a spurs supporter)

lol welcome to england.

He is in a position of power. No reason why he shouldn't ask for more money.

he can ask, but he's under contract so the chances of him getting anything extra is slim especially with how tight wenger is
#4
Currently the best player in an average Arsenal team.
#5
I heard about this as well...how can he try and negotiate 2 contracts within 4 months...it's ridiculous how money hungry these people are...do they know anything about recession?

its not wenger thats tight...its arsenals wage structure thats tight; its in place to stop us ever needing financial help from investors or ever being ******ed by the wage bill like what will happen to the ridiculously over paid players at chelski if roman ever decides to sell up; thats why we are a rich club despite no foreign owner....but back to the point; he's a bit of a tit to try get more money now; considering ade only got 90k a week the highest paid at arsenal...and he scored 30 in a seaon; then when he got the extra dosh...he stopped scoring...lol ever an advertisement for not giving more money...he'll just have to live with the 40k he makes a week after tax

£80k less 40% tax = £48k per week - I bet he's skint

Ade actually admitted to a disgruntled fan that was calling him lazy and he doesn't deserve his £90k pay packet that he's wrong....because he earns £110k a week. :giggle:

I thought it was 50% tax now for those on 100k plus a year? either way he can hardly complain lol

Well since he has arrived at Arsenal he has been their best and most influential player. There is no way Arsenal will want to lose him in the summer and TBH unless he gets his new contract I believe Arshavin is eccentric enough to state that he wants to leave the club and there will be a number of clubs interested in his services.

a contracts a contract! he wont be able to demand anything...look at ronaldo for example....all wenger can do is say...your second highest paid player here; your getting more money then when you were at your old club; so deal with it simples! wenger doesnt have to sell him; and if he does he'll make a huge profit cos he's signed in for at least 3 years

Think it's 50% , but on what you earn over £150 000 pa. Not sure it applies now or in 2010/2011 tax year.

Whatever, the greedy git agreed and signed a deal that is probably 3x what he got back home and probably loads more than his team-mates, apart from Ade-couldn't-hit-a-barn-door :w00t:

Arsenal may be the "Bank of England" club but they don't make the tax rules

hey im not trying to defend his actions; he's a tit plain an simple; obviously a very very good tit! but none the less he cant really expect to re-negotiate his deal till at least end of this season; plus wenger will give him 90k tops; wont even be worth it after super tax

It's 50% tax if you're on over £150k a year. But the 50% is only paied on anything over £150k, i.e. if you earn £160k a year, you pay 50% tax on £10k, and 40% or whatever it is on the first £150k. I think tax bands go down further than that as well...

I think he is a very good player but has been badly advised. My point is that footballers have a bad enough rep (spoilt, greedy etc) as it is, (not that they give a toss) but let's be honest comments such as his are crass and tactless in today's climate. How many of us here would swap a years salary for one week's of his ?

Also, I wonder how much say Wenger actually has in negotiating wage deals...especially after your Mr Graham's dealings :giggle:

tbh I thats the thing with wenger he's quite integeral in a lot of decisions like this now; he's built our club up and has vested interests in decisions like this; unlike good old george, I think wenger tries his best to make the club succesful and functional at all levels, even if we havent won a trophy in 4 years; he does a lot to make sure we're financially one of the biggest in the country/world without investment. I think he will probably give arshavin a better deal after a full season scoring goals and playing like he's played, that would be fair also

Agreed. He should try and EARN a better deal after he's been there a while (and other clubs come a sniffin!). Not just demand it because he doesn't like our taxes ! Wenger is a top bloke who treats his players fairly but doesn't always get repaid in kind.

I'm a Millwall supporter btw. No one likes us ! ;-)

I have nothing against Millwall tbh having live in Cardiff, I can see how fans get tarred with a bad name in the press, when in reality its just a few, shame you just missed out on promotion, got a good side atm

hey I cant have that much sense I didnt even know what ade was on and I used to think I was a loyal fan lol, you should cruise next season if you can keep that squad togther, only competition you'll have is MKDONS and leeds really, though I could be wrong

£80k a week = £4.16 mil a year

Around £440, 000 in National Insurance and about £2 mill a year in income tax

Take home pay is about £1.7 mill per year or £32600 per week

Im sure someone will correct me if I wrong with the above figures but you can understand why he's a bit miffed about paying so much tax especially when its likely he will never use the NHS, if his kids are educated here they will prob go to a fee paying school not a state comprehensive etc
#26
All the people sayin he is earning so much more than when he was back home.. Not really. Zenit stPetersburg broke the bank for him and were paying £70k a week
#27
The poor baby, he's still making a shed-load more p/a than most middle-high management does BEFORE tax. And all he has to do is keep fit and play football.

Bunch of wasters, the lot of them.
#28
I wouldn't believe a word of this, pretty much every foreign footballer in the Premier League uses a loophole to avoid paying tax.

They say that are non-domiciled or as a not ordinary resident. That means they pay much lower tax rates than everyone else. Generally it is under 10%

They then get their contract split down into three parts;

1 - A contract for matches played in Britain - This pays the lowest and they pay the lower tax rate as above on this.

2 - A global contract for image rights - This is the biggest earner for the player and is paid tax free to an off shore account.

3 - The final contract is similar to the first but pays for them for any matches they pay abroad - It's only a small contract as with the first but helps them save a few more quid in tax as as with the second it's paid offshore and tax free.

So all in all they only pay tax of 10% on a very small part of their contract.

Don't forget the boot deal, win bonuses and if they're high profile the Pepsi ads etc.

Maybe his bird will become a "personality" and star in her own right and we'll be able to look forward to "Olga's real Women" on ITV2 soon . . . :?
