I would be happy if next doors dog could talk, it could tell its owners how sad it feels when they leave it for hours on end, I have told them about the crying but they do not listen to me

we have a nieghbure who would be more than happy to look after it week days and I would do weekends

Don't you hate that? A dog is a pack animal , it wants company . At the moment my cat is sitting looking at me and his meow says I have not eaten for fourteen minutes, I need food . My eyes tell a different story . Clearly carrying enough blubber to see him through till breakfast time

Animals do talk to us we are just not intelligent enough to understand them, they understand us though.
They also talk to us in a non verbal way-

Peter Gabriel explains it better than I ever could-

BTW
I prefer animals to humans.

My neighbour keeps their dog locked in a shed for 23 hours a day. It just barks constantly throughout the day even though they're at home and they've been told about it. I even called the rspca and they did a home visit. Still no change.

After the rspca left, the neighbour came round to confront me (my house would be the only place that can see the dog in the shed). They are abusive scum BUT have a lot of horrible friends and relatives too so I just let them get on with it now.

My cat speaks to me. I asked him to make me a cup of coffee, and he said, "Me, how?"

Good point miles, does this apply to the animals standing in the queue at (non-stun)slaughterhouses watching their best mate get his throat cut, knowing they are next?

Its a harder world out there than just a dog left by itself you know.

I tried to find a forum hosted and moderated by animals, but sadly I couldn't find any.

If all animals could talk then I wouldn't think anything of it because it would be normal. But, if I found an animal who could talk when others can't, then what I'd be is rich. :)

If he was going to do anything he would of done it there and then , otherwise he full of bs , wait until you see him on his own and have your own nice chat with him and show him your friend "mr lump hammer" that is annoyed by the barking :)

I did not want to start the thread too deep but at the time of posting I was thinking about the 3 foot guinepig things that have "invaded" the golf course at the Olympics, I think they would be saying why done these humans do one we were here first
#22
then what if the animals were to report to a higher power - god, aliens, the owners of the planet returning to findout how things are going, who every you want.

am sure we would be removed from the planet

Yes ageed with 1st sentence 100% then we went totally in disagreement.
DO NOT CONTRONT THEM - phone RSPCA AND SAY IF THERE IS NOT A SATISFACORY OUTCOME - THE NATIONAL PRESS WILL BE GETTING A PHONE CALL STRAIGHT AWAY

The novelty would soon wear off, it would be like watching a Channel 5 show for the rest of your life.
Gordon Freeman doesn't speak and neither should animals.

Just do it. I hate barking dogs and their owners in equal measures.

How horrible for you. I had a dog just across the road that used to get chucked in the garden at about 5am and left there until they went to bed at about midnight. It barked constantly. I'm not afraid to admit that the frustration literally brought me to tears on more than one occasion. It was only when the dog got ill and croaked it that I got some relief.

Miles - OP question is " If animals could talk"
Animals do talk both verbally that our limited mental capacity can't understand - but also importantly non verbally.
Animals (I dislike that word as sometimes it is used in a derogatory manner) - are far more intelligent than we will ever appreciated while on Gods earth.
I much prefer for 'animals' to be called our "friends" equal.
