lol.

My friend had a party last week, her mate bought a bra set but said it looks inferior to the photo in the magazine. Wants a refund but is being refused. Surely that's not allowed?

panties cant be refunded due to hygene reasons.

+1....most stores won't accept 'personal' wear back, like swimwear and underwear due to the nature of them unfortunately.

Even if they haven't been tried on? All tags are still attached, she just said in the photo in the magazine the set looked nicer?

So what would happen if the item was faulty? Could they still refuse then?

I used to work for Ann Summers....

We were always told that refunds couldn't be given as the host of the party has already been given their 10%...

You can take the item back to the shop for a Gift Voucher or an Exchange though.

I think it just depends on the rep who did your party to be honest on how they handle things.

no
even primark dont accept returns on things like that
i would be more comfortable knowing someone hasnt touched my undies before i have
its just safer for evveryone

if its faulty then they have to refund it
#12
i know thats what i was told bra can be exchanged but not the bottoms even if they still have the plastic thing over them unfortunately, but maybe you should complain higher as that was my fault buying something out the book and when it came through it looked totally different :-(

If it was faulty then yes a refund should be given - but a store doesn't have to take things back if a buyer changes their mind, they just do it and we have come to expect it.

Agree, but what's to say someone hasn't tried on your bra before you buy it?
#16

yh youve got a point there
but rather it have been tried on the store then taken home and what no
atleast this way you know its likely to be a safer bet

Parties have different rules(apparently!) to the stores...why not ask your friend to contact the rep again & ask to speak to her manager? If she's not willing to give details ring the Ann Summers Customer Care line on 01883 629629 :)

The rep is being really unhelpful, just keeps saying no refunds.

Shame really as it's stopping her getting future custom!

Just go straight to the Head Office number then, if you have her name and where you are they should be able to trace her (check if she's put her ID on the order form).

If they spout the same as her (which I'm sure they won't) just make a complaint :)

Good luck :)

They don't need to offer a refund because the person changed their mind - nowhere does

Not quite how it happened.

The rep bought a book with her and she ordered it out of there but on receipt of the items found them to be inferior to the photo in the book. She hasn't just changed her mind.

Inferior in her eyes

Fact is they are not faulty so no refund has to be offered

Oh right, so it's ok for company's to sell items that look beautiful in their catalogue, when actually they are quite average?

I'm sure if you bought something from a catalogue that looked different once received you wouldn't be best pleased. You certainly wouldn't have the "tough s**t" attitude you have now. lol

I've told her to go to trading standards. :-D

The fact of the matter is that Ann Summers will argue that the product despatched matches that of the catalogue and that no refund is warranted as the item is not faulty.

Not sure about distance selling regs
#28
ChipSticks - as long as the items are still in their bags, your friend can take them back for an Exchange or Gift Voucher as long as she has the part of the order form (I hope the rep gave you one as it's classed as your receipt)....If she didn't I'd still give it a go anyway and take them back :)
