Yeh I was at base for a few months but just got a high performance computer for my work.
So I have decuded to boost the base with SKY up to max again

Its give me readings on speedtest.net of 3.75 download which I think is totally poor
considering Im going to start paying an extra £10 a month to them.
If I dont get anything above 5meg by tonight am I within my power to call them up
to degrade to mid?

thanks all

It depends if they sell it on speed or usage.

Also can take about a week to kick in

Virgin is the way to go 50meg. Reliable and fast with no band throttling

Ethernet cable. Router should have come with one (probably yellow)

Do u think that would help, at the moment I'm connected wireless with a Belkin G adapter

The maximum your line can hold is 6.5MBPS, when you connect via wireless you will lose a little of that speed.

Although sky have promised you a speed boost it wont be higher than 6.5 MBPS whilst reliable
#17
dont believe that BT speed checker link
Mine says 6.0MBPS and I get 14MBPS
#18
Would not believe a thing speedtest.net says or any other "speedtest" site. What is your router actually synching at? Best way to gauge a lines speed is to download several files at once from a big server like microsoft and combine the total speeds
#19
speedtest.net for me is reliable, i normally get within 10% of what I sync at with that site so afaik its quite good

Am on the middle Sky BB level

according to speedtest I am only getting 1.79mb down and less than 0.5mb up

^^ shocking lol

At the box it reads 17019, getting 17meg WOW !!!
