I went to egypt in december and australia in march and used psp ds and laptop both times without problem before take off and after landing and if your phone has flight safe mode you can even switch that on after take off and before landing

Yep, thats right, not during take-off & landing but ok at other times, all the kids take their ds lites on the plane. A laptop is counted as extra to your luggage and go as well as the cabin allowance, even on Ryanair.!!

You are usually fine with them however a few times that i have been on a plane people have been told to switch them off during flights for fear of disruption to communication devices.

Ooh, its me again, beginning to sound a right flying know-it-all, sorry, didn't mean too, just can't keep it shut!!!

Apologises for hijacking thread......but does anyone know if you can take hair straighteners in cabin hand baggage? Going to Dublin on Tues for 2p with Ryanair, but not taking a hold suitcase (usually put them in there!). Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Yes, you can, all electrical items except tools as they think we will drill the cabin crew!!! I always take hairdryers, sat nav, ds lite, mini kettle......no wonder it gets up to 10kg!! Avoid too many shoes as they take up room and weigh heavy. If you use spray deodorant buy it after security in Boots, you cant bring it back either.

IF you fly and take a laptop and have annoying passengers near you try the following

How to handle irritating fellow passengers on trains and planes...

If you are sitting next to someone who
irritates you on a plane or train follow
these instructions:

1.Quietly and calmly open up your laptop
2. Turn on the laptop.
3. Make sure the person who is annoying you can see the screen.
4. Open your browser full screen.
5. Close your eyes and tilt your head up to the sky.
6. Then click on this link. http://boortz.com/mp3/archive/countdown.swf
