Another PC issues thread!

I am staying at a friends house for about a week or two whilst he is away and took my old pc with me, I left my good stuff at home and took a usb keyboard and mouse with me and my pc to tv convertor.

Typical me I forgot that when I used the pc last I had it set for 1650x1080 so though I am getting a picture it is blurry and though I can get into control panel and resolution screen I am unable to change it as I cannot pinpoint the exact spot.

I then tried 2 different methods, I tried booting into advanced and setting resolution to 640x480 but got nowhere, I think the issue is that I have a usb keyboard and with it being an older pc isnt fully recognised, I can get into bios fine and use that, but if I go into boot menu I cannot use the arrow keys.

I also as a last resort tried setting boot device to dvd and reinstall windows but cannot do this because the bios screen isnt recongising usb keyboard!

What can I do apart from going out to my 24 hour Tesco and getting a PS/2 keyboard then taking it back tommorow once I have done with it!

When I say in bios, I mean post actually I never checked in bios but the boot screen says it can boot from usb and legacy etc but the keyboard just stops working! seems to only recongise keyboard in the bios itself and on the logo screen at start.

They allow returns so whats the problem? I have even in the past bought say a svhs cable then took it back as I didnt like it or changed mine and shops are fine.

They arent losing out at all as the item will still be sellable etc.

Thanks for that, appears to now be working in post screen but not on windows startup screen i.e its telling me that windows didnt shut down properly but I cant move the arrow keys with it.

May be easier to just reinstall windows.

Go into the bios. Enable legacy USB support.

Then safe mode, remove the graphics driver in device manager.

Reboot then reinstall.
