After calling someone who had a spray tan the 'P' word, do you think he should be sacked?
Carol Thatcher was dismissed recently for using the words Golly W**

He should be promoted and given a pay rise.

Edit : and he should also be given compensation by the media for humiliating him.

its ok to call a person from australia an aussie
we shorten all words
most nicknames end in y
woody
stumpy etc
if you dont like a countries customs dont come
simple they leave there own countries because of the state they are in then come to a safe countryt and then try changing it
#14
who got the boot?
#15
Considering he's on a family show seen by kids, I think more action should have been taken.

Saying that, the girl involved has supposedly 'moved on' so what can you do..

Carol Thatcher for saying someone looked like a ********, she was immediately dismissed.
In comparison, the P word is a worse insult.
Personally, I dont think he should be sacked.

none of them should have been sacked......a rollocking and being told that is now inappropriate to use these words as some people find them offensive should suffice.

people have got away with a lot worse

Carol Thatcher;
"My case was a leaked private conversation," she says. "The BBC is not my favourite. It is for others to make comparisons. These things are going to carry on popping up, to be honest."

While Bruce Forysth was quick to defend Du Beke, Adrian Chiles, The One Show presenter, publicly condemned Thatcher.

Carol's brother, Sir Mark Thatcher, told Mandrake that the BBC had behaved "like the Stasi".

In February, he said: "If you sneak on what people say in private, particularly someone with a surname that is disapproved of by the powers-that-be, you can clearly do yourself some good there."

Sir Mark said Carol was right not to apologise to them or to anyone else. "She hasn't a racist bone in her body," he said. "If an apology is due, it ought to come from the BBC for spying on her and the story ending up in the newspapers. Who can take these members of the morality police seriously when they come down like a ton of bricks on Carol and yet welcome back Jonathan Ross after the obscene telephone calls he made to an elderly actor?"

A pastiche?:?

A pastiche?:?

Cornish?:)

A pastiche is a literary or other artistic genre that is a "hodge-podge" or an imitation. The word is also a linguistic term used to describe an early stage in the development of a pidgin language

Nope, that neither.

If it hurts the show and helps to quicken its death and its removal from our TV screens... I vote yes - we should put him in the stocks and throw stones at him (whoever he is) lol.

In what way?

You're other point totally ignores that racism is about relations of power.

However, this particular shortening of a resident of a country is a recognised racial slur...therein lies the difference.

It was never broadcast however - the comment was made off air.

A few years ago I saw an episode of "Only Fools and Horses" and Uncle Albert came in with some shopping and said "I have just been down the P*ki shop".

This was on a mainstream comedy show and shown on BBC TV. Nobody seemed to mind at the time.

Now all of a sudden saying P*ki (or any other similar comment) is the worst thing you can do.

Its no big deal, why dont we all just grow up.

(I note when the show is repeated on UK Gold the "p*ki" reference is now censored).

btw Asian and Black people are probably MORE racist than white people. I tuned my radio to an Asian radio show a few months ago and could not believe the negative comments they were making about black people.
#38
The comment wasn't meant as an insult or derogatory, why sack him.? Advise him that far too many people take offence when none was intended and as a person in the public view he should take more care over any comments he makes.
