Jump to unread Post a CommentThe steering fluid was black and the old pump when it was taken out was definetly bust, so that's being sent back to (Ford) on Monday to receive my £50 back
Only thing is the groaning noise when turning the steering is still being emitted, can this problem be because of the pump or something else?
This is the video before steering pump part was fitted (18 Seconds) and onwards:

Refurbished steering pump fitted afterwards (4 seconds) and onwards:

It could be a bent steering rack, does the car wonder around the road while driving?
So it could be the rack
The noise doesn't seem to happen at speed tho it's only when I'm turning slowly (as per videos)

May be a case of swapping out parts until it is solved.
Edit: I don't really want to give out wrong advice, but I would say get the rack replaced.
Thats the least of your worries anyway.. its the DM flywheel that stings you X)

I'll get either Ford or my local to do it, shouldn't take long for what I've been told
"Steering Gear - Remove And Install 1.3 hours to complete"
It's not hopefully drastic but I'll be getting it done when I get back from Offshore :)
Of course, it's a Ford Focus ST Mark 1 ;)
Even with it not being a turbo, it can fairly keep up with other turbo cars :)
Braking Gear
Steering Gear
'ST170' Decals
Three basic essentials X)
Apart from that and my clutch giving up at 56K it was a brilliant car.
Is it ok to drive our car while the steering is making a groaning noise?
This doesn't happen all the time and is very intermittent

Professionally I'd have to say no, bangernomics make's me say don't do any rallycross and avoid potholes as per usual.
