Think dogs differ greatly according to breed when they have puppies. One thing I know is they need calcium supplements when they have their pups. If they have low calcium levels due to feeding pups they can become v ill.
#2
Wat type of dog do u have?
Can i have one of the pups pls?
#3
I have a staffy got both mum and dad!

Love em to bits and soft as muck lol....just wondering if the female gives off signals near the end to make the male think she is in season or if my boy is just a rampant sod lol

My 2 babies :)

how do u know she is due in 7 days?
#8
From day of mating you calculate the amount of days they are pregnant for and get the due date.

But speak to the vet. Giving calcium supplements when not necessary, can cause the body to make less available for use, so it can in fact make it worse if timing is wrong. As for natural supplements, I found cottage cheese and goats milk good. A lot of it is also to do with ratio's. Think it is calcium/phosphorus, but best if you check to make sure. Good luck.;-)

They make a sound like an airhorn and start dancing the Paso Doble in the style of Matt Dawson I believe.

Lmfao!

Oh great, more Staffies to clog up the dog pound.
#18
They wont clog up the dog pound - i have parties interested and if they cant handle them, they are more than welcome to bring them back to me and i will keep them!

Pregnant she looks like she whelped a while ago.

Sorry to say Moob is right about the dogs homes being full of Staffies. Brilliant little dogs, I have two that I got from local rescue centres. Never going to buy from a breeder again, just because there are so many good dogs needing homes already.
#22
i love staff's to death, own one myself. Love all breeds really but staff is by far my fav. Wish there were some in our local rescues! I'd take them all! Think thats a pretty negitive comment, after all these are obviously pure bred pups. You don't really get staff puppy farms. What about king charles and all those, dime a douzen. You can say about most common breeds.

brother just paid £1000 for a staff pup, wish i could find one of them in a rescue!

shes not breeding them for money and im sure will only give to people she trusts

i bet if someone turns up to view and her 2 staffs dont lke the people she wont sell

only prob wth that is no papers i bought mine from someone who shows staffs for a living her dads a champion and she got thrown out ringcraft classes as she never learned and just wanted to play :-D

if your gonna buy 1 it has to be pure bred for temperament

A staffy is an excellently tempered companion, he is always very
good with children. A good description of a staffy is :
one who possesses beauty without vanity, strength without insolence,
courage without ferocity and all the virtues of man without the vices.
It is important to know that a staffy is an individualist not a pack dog
and prefers human company to his own kind. A staffy does not think
it is a dog at all

A pup is just the same with or without KC registration. Battersea Dogs Home has so many staffies they stopped taking any more. Good knows where they are ending up. Its not about the money or the pedigree. My dogs are as good as any at any price, because they have a good home. Just heartbreaking to think of so many that are not so lucky. Yes, these pups will be loved and have good homes. Pity about all the rest, a real dog lover would recognise that.

amcol if u need any certain advice give me a pm got a girl on facebook she just bread her two blue staffs she had a healthy 6 pups so as its all fresh in her mind im sure she can answer most things, the staffys look so nice, the boy has a real unique colour, a picture of my female sammy is below,

the problem is that most in rescue wll not be pure staffys, probably bred by 2 guys who stay in same street and let them roam the streets off the lead trying to make a couple of hundred quid each with no regard what happens to them
#28
arg hate seeing staffies in harnesses mine has a pink dimonte collar makes people more possitive towards the breed with all the bad press they get it means they are not scared of her as they know shes a big softie harneses make them look like gladiators hence people are wary

i fully agree kc reg doesn't make a difference, but in reality most people don't see it that way. As someone said below these "staff's" in rescue resemble and look like staff's but really aren't pure bred staff's. Great dogs of course, don't get me wrong. Too many people just say staff cuz it looks like one.

Agreed, you have no guarantee. My dogs sound just like yours though. Fantastic temperament, can't fault them, but I have had a very expensive pedigree dog in the past that was an absolute nightmare due to inbreeding. Bought from a very well known kennels in Manchester! If you have to buy from a breeder its always best to get from the actual owners. No doubt about that!
#31
I can guarantee all owners will be interviewed before the pups go ANYWHERE, i wont allow them to go with any tom dick or harry i can assure.

They are both pedigree dogs but have no papers but have seen mum and dads papers of both of them, they will leave here with 6 wks free insurance, puppy pack, wormed and flea treatment upto date.

I will be asking a small fee but that will cover any costs i have incurred during pregnancy and bringing the pups up till they leave their homes, and i will be donating some of that to a rescue as well.

This is her first litter and last! Rocky is in for the chop next wednesday lol

you're right about kennels. I'd prefer to buy from just a good owner/breeder. Never bought from a kennels myself.

how does one post pics on here? wanna show off my pup
#33
not really true m8 she wears a harness as she still pulls now and then and thats her correction thing, as when she was young she used a halty harness  but i do no what you mean but its not for looks etc as she wears it most times under her top

I got my girl from someone who no longer wanted her and Rocky i bought, i cant afford to get a rescue dog as i have young children and have no background history 99.9% of the time.

When my kids have grown up and my dogs have passed on then if i want more dogs i will go via a rescue home as well.

Go to photobucket, upload a pic, then pic the file that says [img] code and paste it in here :-)

Love your staffies eyes Dub1
One of my dogs is a very fierce looking girl, bought her a purple diamante collar cos I was sick of people avoiding her when she is such a gentle soul:p
#37
its true about battersea do brothers missus works there and she said around 70% of dogs there are staffy or staffy related, but then maybe they should relax there rules a little, before my new placed we lived on the 2nd floor right oposite the park, sammy was out twice a day an hour @ a time yet they wouldnt allow me a dog from there due to not having a garden @ the time, yet i had a massive park right outisde my house.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwww Dub she is gorgeous!
#39
Thanks MAIA, yea im hoping soon she will no longer use the harness as she is now 99% trained to walk off the lead etc, but she has remained on a lead/harness purely for reason like you said people avoiding her or being asked by park wardens to put a lead on her for no reason other then her being a staffy (thats not me being OTT either as there was loads of dogs around us off there lead)
