HELLP!! - I need a formula and I cant quite get my head around it.

I am trying to create an invoice, with a feature so we can put a percentage in one box, say 10%, and the formula will subtract 10% from the subtotal box.

Thing is, the subtotal box has a formula in it already to add up the product totals. This is what the formula is - =SUM(I28:J40)

Now the percent box is under this, so how would I get the sub total box to change if I put a percentage in the discount box? say 10% for example?

many happy cheers and rep waiting for the answer lol!!

=xx/10 replace xx with the cell reference for the subtotal eg b4
#2
you could changed the subtotal box to =(SUM(I28:J40))*0.9 if not you'll have to create another box because otherwise the formula is going round in circles and excel doesnt like that so it wont work. hope this helps

Might need to use other boxes for the two individual formulas and then the subtotal box with a formula to combine them or something

Thanks for the reply, issue is, the discount percentage will most likely change all the time c.

Just do the following
=SUM(I28:J40)*(1-J41)

Put 10% in J41 or the cell you want to use and edit the formulae above

=SUM(I28:J40)*(1-(CELL#/100))

Where CELL# is the cell where you want to put the discount percentage.

Beat me to it by miles haha! Oh well.
