Looking to buy my first projector. It's going in the living room of approximately 15ft in length and I'm hoping for a 120"ish screen size which should be fine looking at the charts online for distance to screen size ratios. I'm eying up the Panny PT-AE3000. Any thoughts on alternative projector recommendations? I've looked online extensively so looking for personal experience rather than links to review etc.

Also what sort of screens are recommended, prefer a motorised one but don't want to spend silly money just for the sake of convenience.

I know you wasn't trying to put me off, I was just stating that I'm looking at all sources of information. Came across as a bit short but didn't mean to.

I've had a panasonic ptae200e for about 6 years now - used 2 -3 times a week - no problems at all - be careful about screen size I've seen too many people who get the biggest screen they can fit in to the room and it's simply too wide to be comfortable to watch. I've had to put mine on the longest wall so that the settee and chairs dont have to be moved around every time we watch a film.

The screen is 7' on the and I sit 9' away from it and thats fine.

The motorised screen question is one I pondered - is it worth the extra cost and messing about with wiring for the sake of pulling the screen down manually a couple of times a week - I decided not.

I'm starting to think a motorised screen is overkill. How still does your screen remain? Does a draft cause a ripple if you get my meaning?
