My new house doesn't have thermostats on the radiators and I wonder how much it would cost to get this put in/on?

It would be best to call 3 plumbers in your area and find out.

It depends on how many you are having fitted, but approx £30 each including the T.R.V.
#2
partner is a plumber and says approx £7 each per valve plus labour around £60 working on 6 rads.
#3
I'd charge you about £274 to fit 6 in your house (inc. VAT), that would be a straight forward job any issues and the price would obviously go up

I'm not a plumber either I just learnt how to do it in prison so i'd charge less than a normal plumber. Your best bet is to get someone to come round as a lot of the plumbing firms will give you a free estimate.

My god that's cheap, i'm a plumber/heating engineer and there is no way i'd do it for that price, people should be snapping his hand off!

It's a complete system drain down, fit the new valves, re-fill, add fernox and vent system.

He's do all that for £102?!! :?

Does seem cheap but look what she said £7 per valve plus £60 for him and £60 for his alter ego then add VAT £149.23. Maybe but still cheap!
#7
louloo - which part of the country are you based because I was quoted £150 + £20 per radiator to have mine done (inc vat)! At that sort of price I'd be very interested in getting him to quote - we are in South East!
#8
Thanks for the info, it's actually cheaper than I expected and yes, would probably need 6 doing (4 bedrooms, 1 in the living room, 1 in the dining room). Shame I'm in the South West though!

That is cheap, if I were a plumber I wouldn't even get out of bed for that!

I'd want £70 just for walking through the front door!

partner is still working now tonight-he has been self-employed just a year so building up business. He actually loves his job after being in finance and retail most of his life.

He doesnt NEED to work as we are comfortable-so he doesnt bleed people dry. I am proud of him:oops:

we use the same builder and plumber for all the jobs round the house, they give us a great price and a great result so we recommend them to friends and family, they are never short of work.

What's the point of being a plumber and not ripping people off?

It's like being a Gigolo that refuses to "Give up the goods".

making a mental note not to employ either Rediron or the saint to do any work for me cos they are just conmen - money isnt everything - my reputation means more to me - good for your husband louloo - id rather have him and recommend him to friends and family than the other two cowboys

Morning Loulou:thumbsup: Would you consider moving to Glasgow:-D Cant seem to find anyone to do reasonable price for this bathroom. Mind you it has been bathroom companies I`ve been getting for quotes. Think I might just phone round the plumbers and tilers and see what they quote me.

So where do you live Louloo? I'v got plenty of work at home - including the job being descibed here. (ie rad valve change!) No doubt you are nowhere near... but worth asking just in case!

Rosie its cheaper if you choose trades and organise yourself. Partner often removes a bathroom and returns two weeks later to fit new after floor and tiles are complete.

You may need an electrician too but if you get a plumber he will usually know someone:roll:

lol its ok if you have two bathrooms but in your case remove tiles yourself carefully and then get the bathroom suite changed in one day-then tile.

Partner just did my sons-suite approx £300-not B&Q! tiles were just plain white TOPS always ask got trade(70% off adhesives and trims etc!) i think cost him less than £100 all-in 16yards approx. He got a mate to tile it £80(cheap though it should have been maybe £250-300 labour)
O/H free labour but if he had charged-

£250 O/H
£300 suite taps(shower tap on bath)
£100 tiles
£300 tiler

£950 unless you need a new elec shower or lights?
What was £5000 for?

I just know the walls gonna fall apart. lol. I`ve heard of people tiling on top of tiles. Wonder if that works well:thinking:
