Going to Weymouth next week staying at Haven's Littlesea Resort. Not stayed here since i was a child but i am very open minded :P

Looking for things to do in and around the area ... i have two boys aged 2 and 6. We are driving so will have access to a car.

So far my only finding is the sea-life centre, i have a voucher for this but all the reviews i have read are pretty bad :(

Any other ideas of where to go and of any nice places to eat!?

Thanks :)

When we stayed there years ago most days were spent going to Weymouth Beach. Plenty of restaurants on the sea-front. You could go on a day trip to france from Weymouth (assuming they still run the ferries). Could go to the portland bill lighthouse which should still have a cafe beside it, glass bottomed boat trips that run in the lagoon near the littlesea resort.

The Sealife centre is expensive and not great to be honest.

For boys I can highly recommend the tank museum at Bovington. Go on a day they have the outside displays. Fleet Air Arm Museum at is also worth a visit.

Cheaper days out might be Farmer Palmers activity farm (I think that's the best family attraction in the area). Or you could go fossil hunting (Kimmeridge is good for this, you really will come home with fossils). Crabbing at the Quay is also fun for s few hours. Or visit Portland Lighthouse. Plenty of great walks along the coast (but you'll need an off-road buggy for the 2 year old).

Corfe castle and the steam railway from Swanage are loved by my youngest son (that day gets pricy though)

My children ( 4, 6,, 8, 10) don't think much to Monkey World (got bored with their just being monkeys), but I like it there. Loads of family pubs in the area.

i lived 2mins from there for years. its luvly and plenty to do.
if your lads are into army things you can make a day of it, you can go monkey world, and as already mentioned Bovi tank museum, you can go the royal signals musuem (yes im biased as thats were i was based), and onto swanage were you can have a brilliant day out. often went there and onto corfe castle which is amazing at dusk
