What's wrong with selling it on here? Unless it's dodgy (chipped or whatever) I think it's allowed.

It is yours to sell I presume and not the cable companys?

you can sell it on ebay even if chipped as long as you dont actually say it. I just sold our old one.

what are you doing to get it pulled?? did u say its chipped?

If its a Virgin set top box then someone on here may report it since Virgin own the rental equipment and legally it wouldnt be yours to sell, unless thats changed but you might want to think about how you word it if you do sell it on here.

Edit : and given that you will get pushed to supply pictures of the item you're selling on here then its an almost dead cert that the HUKD swat team will report it.

It remains the property of Virgin Media, unlike Sky Boxes you only rent the box from VM, so technically it's not yours to sell.

Heres a link listing UK auction/selling sites that may be helpful.

Edit : also try loot.com Gumtree.com or any other classified site.

You cannot legally sell a Virgin Receiver, it does not belong to you, it belongs to Virgin.

I agree and 99.9% of the time this is true, however a long while back I got an upgrade and when I asked about returning the old boxes I was told that they didnt want them back and that I could keep them (reason being is that the cost to return the box either by post or have an engineer come out just to pick it up was greater than the box was worth), I also received a letter at the time stating this as well so the legal ownership then transferred to me and as such I promptly sold them.

Although I doubt very much if they would still do this with the newer boxes.

lol..sorry, wasnt implying anything to anyone elses post. Was just saying that although its often not worth the companies time or cost to retrive the item, the practice is (and quite rightly so too I think) to sell the box if it has some value at all.

I sold mines on fleabay at the time but I think its because fleabay are tightening up the rules that the OPs item keeps getting pulled.

Legally the box is still Virgin Media but I doubt very much if they actually care about it being sold. After all the customer is still paying rental for the new box and is still a paying customer. This is why I said to OP to try classified or somewhere less stringent on selling.

Dont want you ending up like this chap...lol
