So, my gf has bought a Blackberry 9300 from Three as that was the cheapest place. Been trying to get her set up with internet and a few other apps but been having trouble. Things aren't very straightforward as she hasn't got the Blackberry Internet Service, just a standard data plan.
It was locked to Three, but it's unlocked now courtesy of an unlock code from eBay. Texts and calls are working fine (now on Virgin Mobile)
Things that don't work:
- Google Talk, nor Windows Live Messenger (does this need BIS? Is there a workaround if so?)
- Internet over WiFi. Using Opera and it defaults to mobile internet even though the BB is connected to the router..
I don't understand all this Service Book junk. I was under the impression non-BB data plan people would only miss out on Blackberry Messenger and push email. Seems working around not having a BB data plan isn't as simple as first thought!!
