Am trying to get a Sony vaio PCG-6G1M up and running but i can not find or see where the hd goes, have had whole thing apart and just seems to be no where for it to go.i am a amateur at the things so…

turn over the unit

find hard drive on side

look for two screws holding it on bottom

usually small phillips is needed for that

remove screws

gently pull hd from slot

keep screws with drive, until you replace it

Not sure about that particular model but on one i had the HDD sat under the keyboard. You had to remove the keyboard to change the HDD whereas many laptops have their HDD sitting behind a cover accessed from the exterior of the case.

gently pull hd from slot

keep screws with drive, until you replace it


Thanks for that but thats the prob have turned over and no norm compartment or any for hd to be as far as can see have took whole top off and can see nothing i guess i'm missing something somewhere will have another look .thanks

Ok have tried the link above and the one taking me to google but i still can not find it or any where for it to go guess either something is missing or i'm just being dumb prob the dumb bit knowing me lol thanks for the help guys will carry on trying with the links and read some more :thumbsup:

Not the same mate but thanks :thumbsup: where that pic is showing hd i have the slot for wireless card ext have took that out in case hd went under but no good I'm a bit baffled on this one :oops:

I think you might have misinterpreted those instructions. They way I read it is that they're telling you the hard drive is on the side with screws on the bottom to hold it in place, and once you undo those screws you can slide the hard drive out from the side of the machine.
