Hi, Clutching at straws here but wondered if there are any mechanics around who would know the answer to this question - Can you remove the engine from a renault 55 van without removing the gearbox ?

It's been years since I looked at one and even then my main experience was with Fords (a Mark 4 escort was the last engine I changed in 1991!) but I believe that the gearbox had to be loosened and rested before the engine would lift out cleanly.

Anyway, try to find a haynes manual and see where you get to.

From rusty memory you can leave box and drive shafts in place.

As Dio' said,get Haynes manual.
