Don't worry about it, if they come back to you somehow, plead ignorance.

"eh? it wasnt charged??? omg, I never noticed!" etc etc

When they count the cash at the end of the day for that til they will see the amount missing and tie it up with the game.

Only if there were two transactions, one for the shopping which got paid, and one for the game which went unpaid. Otherwise, it'll only come to light when a stock count is made. The only way it could be traced from there is if there was a CCTV camera filming the stand where COD5 was kept and if every customer to pick a game up was then tracked through the archives of CCTV to see if they take the game to the checkout or not. An obsessive sleuth might then see if the CCTV footage of a customer taking the game to checkout tallies with a sale registering on the system. It could then be traced to Logyon's man by comparing the time of his transaction against a clubcard, if one was used.

In reality though, there's going to be a week of CCTV footage to wade through just to find the occasions when someone's taken a copy off the shelves, and then maybe a few hours worth of video tracking customers as they walked around the store, and a few more hours still checing if sales tally with CCTV footage. You're talking a day's work to find the guy who got the free game, and since 8 hours * £8 an hour = £64, it's not worth the man time expense to track down a £35 product. So he's 100% safe.

Load of rubbish, don't think so. Once i asked for £10 cashback and they forgot to give it me. i went back and they said although we believe you we must wait til the end of the day til they cash up that til where i got my shopping and realise it is +£10 and not on 0. Went back at closing after they counted the til and she gave me my tenner.

Thats a different thing though, something went through the till and therefor there would be an obvious discrepancy at the close of business.

With this situation the game was never processed through the till. In order to notice that the stock is now 1 unit under a physical count will need to be done. This will probably be done on a weekly basis for these items, perhaps more frequently. However it will just be written off, no more said of it.
