ok bought this cot for my daughter second hand at barnrdos about 2yrs ago. she is now 19mnths and can climb over the side but is too young still ti tay put on a single bed.

what i want to know is any one who has or had or can fine out for me if the base where the mattress sits can be lowered as its in the middle of the cot just now halfway up the frame.

it cam prebuilt with alen key no instructions but only 50.00.

in side the cot it says "cassatto" or how ever it is spelt then "BS1753:1987" THEN "cot suzy" "mattress type v2 "then it goes on to list the mattress dimensions ect so mananged to get a mattress from toys r us when she was ready to go in to the cot form her moses basket

This is the cot style? http://www.baby-kit.co.uk/images/stratford,%20white.jpg

It's Cosatto. Will try searching for a user gude as the description says as follows:

Three position adjustable height base
For quick access to baby – a zippy drop-side!
When your baby is older, the cot turns into a junior bed.

I have a Cosatto cot at the moment that my little boy is using. It is a different model to yours, but the base can be lowered or raised.
Does yours have holes running above and below where the base is currently fixed?

If it is a cot bed, the base will lower until it is really quite low! (inches from the floor, just in case the little one rolls out.... which they will!! :))

You need to e-mail them. Link to their website

There's a cosatto suzy cot on e-bay (not allowed to do direct links). If you go their website & search for item : 200243161333 , hopefully that's a picture of the same cot as yours, & it shows the mattress at the very lowest position. But as dbh77 said, there are normally parallel holes in the 4 cot legs where the cot mattress base can be adjusted to & attached.

Also if she starts to get to the stage where she regularly climbs out of a cot (one of mine did from an early age) then consider a junior bed with side rails & a stair gate on her bedroom door. Something like this :

which is very close to the ground.

Good luck :)

I think its time for a bed, mine were very young for this reason, one used to throw himself over and really hurt himself.

Our kid ,at about 9 months could climb out a maxi size cot, (could also do wall units but that was our problem - wasn't anything she couldn't climb). If you can't lower the cot base down as per previous instructions then just take the side off and put cushions or a mattrice on the floor so if they fall out they can't hurt themselves. Our kid couldn't bear being enclosed, as so, as the side was off she slept soundly and never fell off. 11/2yr isn't too young to try a junior or cot bed as long as they can walk or crawl. The change makes quite a distinctive difference and they react very quickly. Give it a try. You want them in a cot when they are 2 or 3??

Enjoy, you have a toddler, a young child, not a babe. They will be so amazing. They will move and develop faster than you - just fantastic! Just so enjoy. Every day will be new. The lower cot will last 2 months at most until they can deal with a non-sided bed situation. Want to go through the hassle and expense? You're the adults. There's a little leeway where you can make them adapt. Kids do.

once a child has learnt how to get out of a cot there isnt alot you can do really, they have worked out how to do it and lowering the base wont make much difference they have already worked out what they need to do, i would put the child into a bed now, the earlier the better i think, good luck x

My little lad sleeps in his cot, but with only 3 sides on it! He got to about 18 months, and refused to sleep in his cot any more! I must admit I was puzzled, but after weeks of him sleeping in my bed with me, I decided to drop the side of his cot and see what happened! ( it is a bedside cot, where the dropdown side folds completely underneath!)
It was amazing.... he loved it, and sleeps in it every night now!! (thank god!!)
If I were you, I would give the bed a try! She may just not like being trapped in a cot! :)

yeah i agree my little one has been in a "big girl bed" since she was 14 months old, but saying that she is very grown up for her age. good luck with what ever you do op.

I have a cosatto, and it drops down. The middle height is still quite high up. I dropped mine down as soon as she was able to pull herself up. You will probably find that LO won't be able to climb out from that height.

Put barbed wire around the top of it
#15
...or a lid of chickenwire. :-D

No seriously, think sassies right and you daughter has graduated into the big girls club and deserves a big girls bed. Maybe you just need double locks on the doors. (jesting).

Seriously, you have to think of things like, they can walk about at night now so you do have to make everything safe at night, gates door catches etc.

Good luck now you have lowered the base of the cot.
Just remember to keep rope ladders away from her if she is near the windows and have a read of this... :)
