We are having a new wetroom fitted for hubby as he cant get in/out of bath anymore .... however I got home from work tonight to find they've fitted the shower unit itself about 2 foot off the floor within the area where the shower will be ........ surely this will put it in the flow of water which is dangerous ???

I've looked on the Triton site for the fitting instructions and this states it should be at least a metre off the floor and out of the water flow ........ am I missing something or has the plumber lost the plot :-) ??!!

I cant get hold of the builders now till Monday when they come back to carry on .... and even then I'll probably have gone to work by the time they turn up...... so should I be worried or is this common practice ? It's so low you'd have to sit on the floor to look at the unit to adjust the settings !!

Any advice gratefully received as the guys seem pretty good and I dont want to have a go at them about something if I'm wrong :-) ! Thanks :-)

Are you sure it's in it's final position?

Thanks for link - that's how the floor has been done which is great ..... it's just the position of the shower unit itself that worries me  !

Well it's fixed pretty firmly to the new tiles though they haven't actually finished fitting the shower head and riser yet ..... but the box is on the wall just above the shower tray, which is under the floor, which puts it right in the flow of water as the shower head will be higher than the box ....... unless we're supposed to pretend we still have a bath and lie on the floor to shower :? ??? !!

it'd have be be a flippin low wheelchair :? and anyway he's not in a wheelchair ......... and even if he was, surely it should still be outside the shower area ??

no, but a shower room is usually made for people who either are in a wheelchair or cant stand up in a shower, and such people can often not lift their arms above shoulder height when sitting,
usually a chair is used in that case, im suprised if it could be lower than that!

so imagine around elbow height sitting down, that would be around the height, how would you put it outside the area? then he couldnt control it?

basically you move a bit away from the wall as the entire floor is water proof, that stops too much water going on it (and they are pretty waterproof)
so 2 feet is somewhat around the height (try a lowish chair and see if its around elbow height) then its correct

I guess that's the height they've gone for then :x am seriously unhappy as it looks ridiculous and as he's not actually going to be sitting down (and neither am I !!) then it's totally impractical for us - am now gearing up to give them hell on Monday morning as no-one even asked us what height we wanted the damn thing at and I just assumed it would be normal height as I've never heard of them being any different :x Thanks for your help, at least I know why they've done it even if it does make me mad  !!
