Who has had any success stories haggling in store or online?

I've heard that people have had good success rates at haggling down prices in high street stores like John Lewis. I was wondering if anybody here has had any positive haggling experience. Read More

I paid for installation of my washing machine and for them to take the old one away but because they couldn't take the pipe off to fix the new pipe on they left it and went so I rang the company and complained so they refunded me me £25 instead of £20 I originally paid...first time I actually complained for a refund....but I haggled vm once and got a discount but this time my contract ending and they won't budge oO

I've haggled at currys a few years ago and got a good discount on a TV.. Also haggled and got some money off a washing machine at a different currys store.
Got a further 20% off a pair of shoes that were already on sale at Office because there was a slight fade in the colour on one shoe.

smashed my apple watch
had apple plus cover with 50 quid excess
blagged it and did not have to pay excess

if you bundle in most shops you get discount or complain online and they give you compensation

Currys years ago when 3D TVs first came out I bought a Samsung 3Dtv but got my self 20% off a 3D bluray player when it came to putting it though the till they put 20% over the whole purchase I also asked if they would chuck a 3D hdmi cable in which was £49 (stupidity over priced and wasn't included) and a 3D shreck film which I could send off a voucher for and get the other 3 shreck films in 3D. They had another big TV store over the rd and I played them off against them saying ok I'll just go over the rd see what deal they can give.

That's the only time I had good dealing with currys every other time has been **** poor

So, you took a large tv and a bluray player to to the till. Got 20% off the whole purchase rather than just 20% off just the bluray player, but still complained and threatened to go over the road to a competitor?.

You didn't say if you actually got the currys deal with the hdmi and shreck film bundled in.

Smells fishy:{

Larry was saying they got that deal because they played them off against the store across the road. ;)

Haha no you don't take the whole lot to the till that never happens with big items dose it don't be silly . you get sales who comes over and tries to sell you a TV you get talking and haggling and tell them you will go over the road to see what deal they can give you as you are talking/haggling they then write down barcodes take them to the till. And yes I did get the whole lot at 20% off plus a 3D hdmi cable and a 3D bluray disk which was shrek. The other shop over the rd was comet and i didn't threaten I simply said I'll go see what comet can do while I was talking to the sales person who didn't want to lose the sale so agreed with me on a deal. Who knows I could of gone comet and got a better deal but I'll never know as I didn't have to I liked the deal I got. Big shops do let you haggle on price especially if you bundle stuff together most people simply don't ask but I do.

I'm talking from personal experience. I've always managed to get some sort of discount by using charm kindness and a big smile. I've also blagged quite a few freebies too :D

It's also harder to haggle with a woman say you go to the market or something women stick to the price Iv learnt that as life goes on. But every one I talk to who try's to change bills make them cheaper says it's a lot harder to get a good deal over the phone with a woman and Iv found this to be quite true ring sky, EE or other utilities and if you get a woman it's pretty much no deal. Strange but true :D

I've never had that problem tbh. If I feel in my gut that a phone operator isn't doing it for me then I hang up and dial again and wait till I get through to someone who isn't a jobsworth

If a shop offers student discount I always ask for that - I'm 52 and they don't seem to mind.

Best I heard was that if they try to sell expensive accidental damage insurance, etc, take it out but ask for a discount on the product. You then have 14 days to cancel the insurance. Hope I am right.

I might have mentioned this before once or twice X) but I once got £200 off a £1k mattress from the pocket spring bed company, just for one bum licking email X)
You know what they say - if you don't ask you don't get X)
