Any suggestions for a romantic weekend break???

Morning Lovelies...

I was wondering if anybody could give me some ideas as to where me and my OH could go for a romantic weekend away. I'm not looking to spend more than £200-300 for the weekend. I'm not going to go into much detail, but me and the OH are going through a real rocky period and have put our wedding plans on hold (its that bad) I really want us to get away somewhere to spend some quality time together to rekindle our relationship and talk away from our normal surroundings.!

All suggestions welcome as always!

Many thanks! x x x

aww love, Im not sure where your from to suggest. IS it this country you want to stay? As you could get cheap flights for you both to paris for that price.?

Getting away from wedding plans is a good idea, the stress of preparing a wedding is enough to cause problems!! Id go and have SOME FUN together! blackpool, alton towers, oakwood etc! Then stay in a nice hotel with sauna etc so in the evenings its couple time ;)

There are plenty of web sites that cater for this sort of thing. Search for "Romantic Hotels" or "Romantic Breaks" and things like that.

Here is one site as an example:

Often the period before a wedding, particularly if it is a big wedding, can be very stressful.

I often think people go over the top with weddings, and the whole year before a wedding can be sorting out invites, cars, photographers, flowers, the dress, bridesmaids etc.

This often gets in the way of the couples relationship.

I think men particularly find the whole "wedding" thing a bit much and they start to have second thoughts.

If you were planning to have a big wedding, consider a smaller one and it wont be so stressful.

Hope the romantic weekend goes well.

Thank you for your suggestions... I live in North London Borders / Hertfordshire so I can get more less any where however I dont fancy spending too much time behind the wheel. Alton Towers could be an option for a bit of fun... depending on the weather. :)

If you fancy somewhere abroad, have a look at Eurostar's website. Ive just got a deal on 2 nights in Lille at a 5* hotel for 2 for £300, november time. Theres some great deals on going to Brussels and Paris if you can be flexible on the departure time, Brussels was about 88pp for 2 nights!

I think you've hitthe nail on the head!! All the wedding stuff his stressing him out in amongst the fact that we had a tough year as I wasnt working and was struggling to find a job. Things are looking better now although I cant help but feel that he resents me for all the stress he went through paying the mortgage etc.... were both 27 and have had different expereiences in life, however he feels there is so much more he wants to do before settling down. I think he has looked for other things to make him happy whilst we were having problems. Now that things are finally getiing bettter i really want to take our relationship back to how it was. I know if we go our seperate ways it will be the worse mistake ever and my parents will never forgive him even if he regrets in later down the line!

surprisingly Berlin was fantastic with plenty to do, and with flights being reasonable at the minute why not combine a few days here with a few days in pisa or florence??

As we haven't had a holiday in years i would like to get away from the UK, However i've been to France/Paris 4 times already. Would prefer a long weekend to Madrid or something. Anybody know any good deals for in 2 weeks time?

Lumley Castle Hotel in Chester-le-street, right near Durham cricket ground. Went there last week to a friend wedding and stayed overnight. It's a fantastic place, really smart and romantic, It really is a 600 year old castle!

I went to Berlin a few years ago and it was fab. Go for a meal in the revolving restaurant at the top of the TV tower - totally retro fun!

Hope you get things back on track MissMP.

Perfectly understandable. Preferably somewhere warm though eh? A little sun on your back always makes you feel better. It does me anyway.

Venice araound £150 quid per person at http://www.teletextholidays.co.uk and is prague slightly cheaper. But you could go anywhere and have a good time if theres enough places for you to go and stuff together and just forget about your wedding. Good luck xxx

You'll be ok, communication is the key.

Men can be bad listener's, tell him exactly how you feel.

I'm in a similar position, i don't work and he pay's for most things.

If he loves you, he will stick by you.

Try Barcelona. My hubby and I had a fantastic time there in June. Try looking at hotels.com for your hotel. W e stayed in the business area as it was cheaper.and only about 20 mins away from La Ramblas. Public transport is exellent and cheap. Another option is secrethotels website.:thumbsup.
Hope you find somewhere

Don't worry chick, every couple has there up and downs, life would be very boring if we didn't!
I have been in a similar situation to you (wont bore you with the details!) and its hard. Married life hasn't exactly been the fairytale i expected but it is what you make it.
Whenever we get a chance we go away for the weekend, either to watch the footie or shopping (with his money of course!)

Teletext holidays are good http://www.teletextholidays.co.uk/Holidays/Package_Holidays/Results.aspx?SQ=%7b%22id%22%3anull%2c%22source%22%3anull%2c%22searchId%22%3a2%2c%22destinationId%22%3a-1%2c%22destinationName%22%3a%22Any%22%2c%22skipInt%22%3afalse%2c%22destinationType%22%3a%22Label%22%2c%22DepartureDate%22%3a%22%5c%2fDate(1223596800000)%5c%2f%22%2c%22Rolling%22%3a0%2c%22PlusMinusDays%22%3a4%2c%22Duration%22%3a3%2c%22adults%22%3a2%2c%22children%22%3a0%2c%22infants%22%3a0%2c%22departureId%22%3a-1%2c%22departureName%22%3a%22Any+London%22%2c%22IsGatewaySearch%22%3atrue%2c%22boardTypeId%22%3a-1%2c%22boardTypeCode%22%3a%22Any%22%2c%22rating12%22%3atrue%2c%22rating3%22%3atrue%2c%22rating4%22%3atrue%2c%22rating5%22%3atrue%2c%22tradingNameId%22%3anull%2c%22priceMin%22%3anull%2c%22priceMax%22%3anull%2c%22orderBy%22%3anull%7d#state1|ctl00_ctl00_PageBody_Sorter_recommended|^ctl00_ctl00_PageBody_RatingFilter_rating5,^ctl00_ctl00_PageBody_BoardFilter_roomonly,^ctl00_ctl00_PageBody_BoardFilter_drinksinclusive,^ctl00_ctl00_PageBody_NamedFilter_named,|
