Theres a few companies that are on quidco, so have a look there and compare the best prices. I paid £4 for a weeks insurance to Turkey a few weeks ago.

did you have to pay at the doctors for your jabs?

EDIT:- Ooops! Just re-read what you said.

So you dont NEED jabs for Egypt then I take it.

No there is no NEED to have them to travel. The jabs are about £50 each i think, i had a bunch when i went to tunisia

Will you be doing any diving? if so ensure you have adequate cover, similar for quad bike safaris and other "dangerous" activities

Ask your Practice nurse about current vaccinations requirements, they aren't compulsory.

I have just booked in to get my jabs for thailand, half of them are free the rest will cost £140.

PS dont take any meds over for D&V you do get a squiffy tum, head for the local chemist their stuff is so much better. Be careful though 4 weeks ago I asked for some pain killers in a chemist in Dahab, they offered me morphine syrup! then winked at me and offered me rohypnol and Viagra.

Last advice, unless you are flying in via Cairo, I can guarantee your flight will be chav heaven, so take some noise cancelling earphones, and an mp3/DS etc to save your sanity.

+1 atlas are great, i have used them several times, when i went to turkey, it cost me and my oh £13 odd to get covered for a week which the platinum cover (best cover you can get) and also cover on baggage. so for £13 together, i dont think thats a bad deal. Also when i went to Florida last year, it was about £8 for me for 2 weeks to have the same cover as my turkey holiday  HTH

Have been using Direct Travel for years. Tend to get annual family cover for a very reasonable price, Having said that, we've not had to claim for anything frotunately.

Also some visa cards have limited travel cover if you book using them - worth checking.
