Any Vauxhall owners?

Im planning on getting an Astra (diesel) on a 04 above and heard Vauxhall are common with electrical problems and just wondering if any of you have problems?

I like the Astra and need a diesel, or any alternative would be considered?

I work for a company that has 14000 Vauxhalls on it's fleet. A large percentage are Astra's.

I just spoke to our vehicle maintenance manager who says the Vectra's are plagued with electrical issues, but the Astra's are fine. His mate also works for Vauxhall maintenance and also says there are no known problems with them.

I have had a couple of Astra's on fleet too and have to say they are lovely cars, the automatic petrol models though absolutely guzzle fuel.

dont mean to sound funny, but we genuinely have about 8000 Vauxhall Astra's and Vauxhall is all we have dealt with for the last 6 years. If our fleet maintenance manager is not aware of any problems with the Astra's then there aren't any.

As I say the Vectra's are a different story altogether.

You may get a response from someone on here saying they have had issue's, but 1 bad apple doesn't mean the whole apple tree is faulty. We may have seen 1 or 2 problems with an Astra, but but in 8000 Astra's that isn't a great deal.

If you want a Japanese diesel, why not look at the Mazda's? I have a '52' Mazda 6 2.0 Diesel, with 128,000 miles on the clock, and haven't had a single problem with it in over a year
