Anybody been to Tunisia? Looking for a quiet girls holiday x

As above. Hubby has give me permission to go on holiday with the girls ... We are looking for a relaxing holiday, nice weather and somewhere where we feel safe and not hassled by a load of men! Definitely not looking for a 18-30s hol!

I have seen an all inclusive deal to Tunisia £298 next May for 7 nights at the Iberostar, looks nice to me but i have never been to Tunisia!? Your thoughts? Is it cheap for a reason!?

Any other suggestions appreciated, max budget is £350

I've been a couple of times & it was great. But if you're female & you go out of the hotel then unfortunately you're going to get 'goosed' & ogles by the local men - sorry, but that's how it goes in Tunisia.

Still, you can have a good time in the hotel & on the beach - just expect 'action' in the towns.

Hi, who is that holiday with. Thats a good deal. I wanted to go tunisia with my partner next year as well. My sister who went last year said its nice but you get hassled by the tunisian men whenever you leave the hotel. Its fine if you stay in the complex but if you go shopping or anything they hassle you big time. They lock you in their shops and stuff until you buy stuff. And when she went she was with her husband (a big bloke) and her son so if they were like that with families, imagine what they wuld be like with just woman. Im still considering it though. Who was that deal with? Thanks.

on the night we left two women from our flight were mugged outside our hotel. Partner felt threatened while out walking to the local shops...and one guy we met was asked for sex on the beach by a young boy! £10 for sex or stay in his room for £20!!
yuck really dont go!! i can think of much nicer places!!
#6
They locked an older couple in a shop at port el kantoui when we were there and they had to buy-why would you go????????

My brother and sis in law go a lot, just don't go wandering outside the hotel, stay on the site, they are usually designed for not having to leave the complex....she said even the market came to the hotel!!

Just returned from a week at the Iberostar Phenicia in Hammamet and loved it!

The weather was great and the hotel was FANTASTIC!

Yes you do get hasseled outside the hotel, but a firm 'no' gets rid of the touts!

Tunisia is excellent value for money. We just wanted a 'chill-out' week, somewhere warm, in a hotel with great facilities & that's exactly what we got. Half the price of the Canaries - we paid £900 for 3 of us, all-inclusive.

Would definitely go back.

Have been to Tunisia many times...as long as you stay within the confines of the complex you will be ok. Crime is not very high in Tunisia since it is met with severity for the locals. Most Tunisian folks I have met have been very obliging and never had any problems with them. Was warned not to venture near the beaches after dark..was too busy getting drunk anyways in the bar most night lol. Only problems I got was with market traders in the towns , I use to talk jibberish to them like a foreign language they have never heard of..they just left me alone lol :)

By the way what Iberostar hotel / resort are you going too? ...some can be hit and miss..I stayed at the Sahara Beach Hotel in Skanes and Phencia in Hammamet..both good hotels.

ive been to tunisia i went in march just gone, weather was great for the time of year, we stayed at the iberostar sahara beach hotel we paid £250 each all inc food was great, hotel was lovely, i couldnt fault it at all! close to the airport! i I would definatley go back and in my eyes theres no reason to go ff the comlex especiall if your stayingy at sahara beach. Just like people have siad yes the market comes to your hotel as daft as it may seem theres a range of shops based in the hotel and entertainment was great""

Which hotel is it your booked into??
Also who did you book with??
#22
And the large pool at the Sahara Beach is to die for lol :)

This was one of the first holidays i went on abroad (about 11 years ago), we went to the saharah beach too, all in-clusive. from what my parents have said this hotel was the best all-inclusive we have been in terms of the alcohol, drinks, snacks but the food wasnt great (i remember i ate alot of chips).

I dont think we ventured out of the resort except for a planned trip on camels which was done with the hotel.

Like someone has said.. the pool is huge, i remember there being about 30 blokes, a rope and people were then able to waterski accross the pool, lol.

Also it backs onto the beach where you can do bannana boating, sailing, rings etc

I'm not the OP with the bargain deal! I booked my though through CO-OP Travel. I think tour operator is panorama holidays but not 100% sure off top of my head.

Can't remember much of details as to resort etc but I know it has cost £2,200 for 2 adults and 4 kids for 14 nights SC.

I have to say umanga I think you've done the right thing in cancelling. I went with my 6'2" great big man last may and I was hassled in and out of the hotel, whether I was with him or even just walking from the pool to the loo on my own. I have been to plenty of places before and know to expect a bit of it but this was truly unpleasant.

Also I found the all-inclusive really wasn't up to much, drinks were cheap, nasty and watered down, and the food was pretty poor too.

If you're looking fro a relaxing girly holiday have a look at Dalyan in Turkey. Whilst it is a muslim country, the hassle you get is nothing like in Tunisia and the mayor is very strict on locals not dragging you into their shops or restaurants and you certainly won't get hassled to buy things you don't want.
The whole town is low rise and very laid back, with a gorgeous beach a short boat ride away and plenty to do in and around the area.

PM me if you want any more details!
